śalākayoḥ saṃnikṛṣṭayorvibhudravyayorapi ca syāt | atha dviṣṭhaḥ (p. 2) padārthaḥ kaścitsaṃbandhaḥ | tatrāpi dviṣṭhataiva saṃbandhatā cet taddvitvadvipṛthaktvāderapi sā syāt | na cāyamarthaḥ saṃbandhaśabdasya avayavārthānurodhāduttiṣṭhati [kha. etaduttiṣṭhatīti pāṭhaḥ |] api tu tailapāyikāśabdasyeva saṃketamātrāt | atha saṃbandhaśabdārtha eva na dviṣṭhatā api tu so'nya eva kevalaṃ saṃbaddhayoreva [kha. pu. so'pi dvayoriti pāṭhaḥ |] saṃbhavatīti dviṣṭha ucyate, sa tarhi svarūpeṇaiva spaṣṭamucyatāṃ saṃbandhaḥ saṃśleṣa ityādiparyāyāṇāmayamartha iti | apekṣāpāratantryādirapi na cānyaḥ saṃbandhārtho dviṣṭhatvanyāyenaiva so'rthākṣiptaḥ syāt | na cāpyarthākṣiptatāsya, na hi jaḍayoḥ saṃbandhinorapekṣārtho ghaṭate pāratantryārtho vā | athāpyaṅkura eva bījamapekṣate bīje vā paratantro bhavati, tadāyattatvādestadātmalābhasyetyetadapi na samyak; upacāro hyayamapekṣata iva paratantra iveti syāt, na tu jaḍasya mukhyaivākāṅkṣā prārthanā cecchaiva viśiṣṭā apekṣā pāratantryaṃ vā parapravaṇatā parakīyaviniyogākāṅkṣā svecchācaraṇanirodhalakṣaṇaḥ saṃkalpaviśeṣa eva saṃgacchate, alabdhātmanaścātmalābhārthamapekṣādi [kha. arthalābheti pāṭhaḥ |] kathyate, na ca tadānīmadviṣṭhatvātsaṃbandhārthopapattiḥ; tasmānmuktakaṇṭhameva mukhyaḥ saṃbandho'bhidhātavya iti | tatrocyate saṃbandhaḥ saṃparkaḥ saṃśleṣa ityete paryāyāstāvadbhavanti, sa ca saṃśleṣārtho'nekasyaikatā kathyate, na tvanekataiva nāpi ekataiva api tu ubhayāvasthāpekṣo'yamarthaḥ [kha. pu. pekṣayeti pāṭhaḥ |] saṃbandhaḥ | ata eva na bahūnāmekaḥ saṃbandhaḥ | yadi hi anekatvamātramekatvamātraṃ vā saṃbandhaḥ (p. 3) syāt, tadbahūnāmapi ekatāpattau ekatānāpattāvapi vā syāt, ekamātrasyāpi ca syāt | yadā punaranekasyaikatā saṃbandha ubhayāpekṣayā tadānekāpekṣaṇādekamātrasyaiva na saṃbandhaḥ, ekāpekṣaṇācca nānekasyaiva pṛthaksthitasya | na cāpi tryādīnāmekaḥ saṃbandhaḥ, trayāṇāṃ hi bhinnabhedāvadhikṛtadvairāśyāśrayātparasparaṃ bhedāt, teṣāṃ ca saṃbandhasvarūpasthitāvapekṣaṇāt, ekasya dvitīyena saha yaikatā na sā tṛtīyena saha, tayordvitīyatṛtīyayorbhedādapekṣaṇācca; tato bahūnāṃ śatādisaṃkhyānāmapi pratiyugalamevaikaḥ saṃbandha udghoṣyate, - ityevaṃ dvayorekātmeti saṃbandhaśabdārtho'vayavānusāreṇaiva vyavasthitaḥ | saṃśabdena sahārthavṛttinā samānārthavṛttinā vā bandhinā ca deśāntaraparihārapūrvakaikadeśāvasthānārthena vispaṣṭamuktaiva sa hyanekasyaikatā | kevalamanekasya ekatā saṃbhavennaveti paryālocyate, - tatrāyaṃ saṃbandho'nekadhā pratīyate, - pituḥ putraḥ, rājñaḥ puruṣaḥ, vṛkṣasya śākhā, dhavaśca khadiraśca, nīlamutpalaṃ, devadattaḥ kāṣṭhaiḥ sthālyāmodanaṃ pacati, ghaṭasyābhāvaḥ, asmādidamanyat, - ityevamādinā rūpeṇa | tathā viparyayeṇāpi putrasya pitā, puruṣasya rājeti | tatra kimidaṃ pratītimātram uta vastveva evaṃbhūtaṃ pratīyate | tatra yadi pratītimātrametat vastusvarūpaṃ tarhi vaktavyam | tatrācakṣate, - vastu ghaṭādi svātmamātraparisamāptamanyonyavyāvṛttamitthameva hi svātmāvabhāsinā pratyakṣeṇa pratīyate kalpanā kalpitaiva sā | te hi amiśrāḥ svayṃ bhāvāstānyojayati kalpanā ityāhuḥ, tathā nīlamutpalamiti śābdyā kalpanayā paraṃ nīlotpalayorekātmatā pratīyate, (p. 4) na tu vastvavabhāsinā niraṃśotpalasvalakṣaṇaviśeṣālambanena [kha. pu. lambanapratyakṣeti pāṭhaḥ |] pratyakṣeṇa pramāṇena | tathā cāhuḥ saṃyujyante na bhidyante svato'rthāḥ pāramārthikāḥ | rūpamekamanekaṃ ca teṣu buddherupaplavaḥ || ityādi | naca anekasyānekatāsahabhāvinī ekatā yujyate bhāvābhāvarūpatvena viruddhatvāt | anekasmādupādānādekam ekasmādvā anekam anyonyāsaṃsṛṣṭamevātmamātraparyavasitamudbhavet | yathā vijñānasantatau vyavasthā keṣāṃcit, tatra hi śabdasparśādijñānalakṣaṇebhyaḥ samanantarapratyayebhya ekamaindriyakaṃ vikalpajñānam | ekasmādvā samanantarapratyayāt pañcāpi śabdādiviṣayāṇi jāyante | yā punarekatā anekatā ca samānāśrayā sā pramāṇabādhitā, bhāvasya vābhāvatā; kevalamitthaṃrūpayaiva anayā kalpanāpratītyā sāṃsārikavyavahāranirvartanārthamarthāḥ parasparavyāvṛttā api kāryakāraṇarūpatvena avāstavenaiva pratipādyante | rājapuruṣayoranyonyaṃ svarūpaviśeṣakriyaiva evaṃ nirūpyate [kha. pu. nidṛśyate iti pāṭhaḥ |] sthālyāṃ kāṣṭhairityādau ca; ata eva pratītikāla eva sāmānyasyeva saṃbandhasyābhyupagamaḥ | vastusvarūpaviparītatvena ca pratītistadvadeva bhrāntiviṣayaiva, kevalaṃ bādhapravṛttāvapi upakāryopakārakasvarūpaviśeṣāvabhāsasaṃlagnatvādasya bhramasyāvayavibhramasyevānivṛttiḥ sarpabhramavat | tata eva bhrānterapyasyāḥ saṃvṛtisaṃjñayā vyapadeśa iti | tatrocyate pratītistāvadanekaikarūpatāyāṃ saṃbandhābhidhānāya bhavadbhirapyabhyupagataiva, yenoktam (p. 5) ityamiśrāḥ svayaṃ bhāvāstānyojayati kalpanā | iti | kalpanārūpatvaṃ ca nāsyā doṣaḥ | ghaṭo'yaṃ paṭo'yamityapi vikalpaḥ kalpanaiva | athātra pratyakṣāvabhāso'pi [kha. pu. ābhāsa iti pāṭhaḥ |] tathā ghaṭapaṭādirūpa eveti na kalpanātvam | ihāpi rājñaḥ puruṣaḥ sthālyāmodana ityādāvapi pratyakṣāvabhāso na tatheti kuto'vagatam | avaśyameva ca pratyakṣāvabhāso'pyatra tathaivābhyupagantavyaḥ, abhyupagata eva vā bhavadbhiḥ yenoktam, arthākārapratibhāsasaṃlagnatvādbādhakenāpi duruddharo'yaṃ bhramaḥ iti | na hi arthapratibhāsasaṃlagnatvādbādhakena api tvarthapratibhāsasādṛśyasadbhāvamātrāt | rajatabhrame'pi śuktikāsādṛśyasadbhāvo'pyastyeva, sādṛśyaviṣayā [kha. pu. sadṛśeti pāṭhaḥ |] eva hi sarvā bhrāntayaḥ sādṛśyavyatirekeṇa cānyā arthapratibhāsasaṃlagnatayaiva yuktāḥ, yadarthapratibhāsaśarīramevaṃbhūtameva evaṃrūpeṇaiva [kha. pu. eketi pāṭhaḥ |] vyavahārayitrā vikalpena vyavahārayitumupapannam, anyathābhūtīkṛte eva arthābhāse parasparasvarūpānanupraviṣṭasvātmamātraparyavasitārthaniṣṭhatā māpādite yadi paramayaṃ saṃbandhavikalpaḥ sāmānyādivikalpavannivarteta nānyathā | na ca vikalpo'rthapratibhāsādbhinnaḥ, nirvikalpatvadūṣaṇādīśvarapratyabhijñāyām | evaṃ rājñaḥ puruṣa ityādāvavabhāsa evānekasyaikātmatāprathārūpo'bhyupagantavyaḥ sthūlapratibhāsavat, sa tūpapadyate na vetyetāvadvicāryate [kha. pu. vedyateti pāṭhaḥ |], - tatra cinmātrarūpasyaiva pāramārthikasya vastuno viśvātmatā | tasyaiva cinmātrasya māyāśaktiprabhāvādabhedākhyātyutthāpanena viśvasya tattvabhūtabhuvanādyātmavaicitryeṇānyonyavibhaktatā, - (p. 6) itīśvarapratyabhijñāyāṃ vistareṇa pratipāditam, - iti tata eva parīkṣyaṃ nehopanyasyate | asmiṃścārthe siddhe naikaikatāruapaḥ saṃsāra eva saṃbandhaśabdārthānupraviṣṭaḥ, - iti nāstyevātra dīnatā, kevalamiyadvimṛśyate - yadekacinmātrarūpatvenānekātmano vastubhedasyaika eva saṃbandhaḥ syāt ya eva rājapuruṣayoḥ sa eva pitāputrayoḥ sthālyādīnāṃ ceti, anekaśceṣyate | tadatrāpyucyate - syādeka eva sarveṣāmiti | yadyekatāmātrameva saṃbandhaḥ syāt, yāvatānekatāṃśādaṃśenaikatā saṃbandhaḥ | tataśca rājapuruṣoparaktaikatānyaḥ saṃbandhaḥ pitāputroparāgopalakṣaṇavilakṣaṇa eva; ata eva māyādaśāyāmevākhyātibhedapradhānāyāṃ saṃbandhapadārthasadbhāvaḥ, viśvātmatāyāṃ punaḥ pūrṇaikataiva na tu saṃbandhārthaḥ kaścit | tatrāpi kadācitparāparadaśāyāmaparabhāgāpekṣaṇādgauṇavṛttyā saṃbandhārthaḥ saṃbhavet, upakāryopakārakayoreva ca viśiṣṭayoḥ saṃbandhaḥ viśiṣṭarūpaḥ, sa ca pratipādanīyo'vaśyameva, tadapratipādane tayorupakāryopakārakayoḥ kramikayorgaugapadyena pratītirhānopādānārthamanyathā na ghaṭeta, tataśca vyavahāralopaḥ syāt | na copakāryopakārakayorapi svādhīnaḥ kaścidupakārārthaḥ, - ityapīśvarapratyabhijñāyāmeva vistāritam | tataśca cinmayeśvarecchaiva sā tādṛśī yayā [kha. pu. yatheti pāṭhaḥ |] padārthau tau tathopakāryopakārakau bhavata iti tallagnayoreva tayordvayordvayorarthayoḥ kramikayorapi ekabuddhyupārūḍhayorekaparāmarśāt tayorevānyarūpayoryaugapadyena prakāśanaṃ vyavahārasiddhaye tadicchayaiva vidhīyate, - iti na kācitkhaṇḍanā | (p. 7) sa ca saṃbandho dvayoreva bhavati na bahūnāṃ, bahūnāṃ hi kimekaikasyānyairanekasaṃkhyairyugapadeva kiṃ vā bahūnāṃ madhye ekasya ekaikena | tatra yadyekaikasyānekasaṃkhyaistatkiṃ te'nekasaṃkhyā eva ekaparāmarśagocarāḥ athānekaparāmarśaviṣayā [ka. pu. viṣayā ekaparāmarśaviṣayā ityadhikaḥ |] rājñaḥ puruṣaḥ rājño hastyaśvarathapadātaya iti | dvandve'pi hastyādyanekatve'pi parāmarśasyaikyāt dvandvākhyaḥ śabda eva, hastyādiśabdā varṇatulyāḥ | ekaparāmarśasthito hi śabda eko bhavati | tadekaśabdādhyāsādartho'pyeka eva | ata eva vastuśabdabuddhaya etā, - iti dvandvārthasyaikasya strīliṅgatvāt tadviśeṣo nopātta eva | etacchabdaḥ strīliṅga eva bhavati, na tu [kha. pu. nanviti pāṭhaḥ |] etā ityekaśeṣanirdeśo'yaṃ yena napuṃsakaikaśeṣaḥ syāt | bahuvacanaṃ cātra dārā itivadavayavādyapekṣayā, - ityevamatra dvayoreva saṃbandhaḥ | iha tu rājño hastī cāśvaśca rathaśca padātiśca, - ityanekaparāmarśaviṣayatve'pi yāvanto hastyādīnāṃ parāmarśāstāvanta eva rājñaḥ, - iti tatsamuccayārthā eva caśabdāḥ | anyathā caśabdasyābhāve rājña ityanukarṣaṇaṃ vinā hastītyanena sahaikaparāmarśanimañjanaikībhūte rājñi paratantre punarvivekamanāpādyamāne kena sahāśvādīnāṃ saṃbandhaḥ syāt tataścopacāreṇa hastyādīnāṃ sāmānādhikaraṇyaṃ pratīyate | athavā [kha. pu. atha cāseti pāṭhaḥ |] sāmarthyāccaśabdābhāve'pi samuccayapratītau ekaikaṃ sa eva saṃbandho hastyādīnāmanyonyamapi ca sattākriyāṃ prati samuccīyamānatāsaṃbandhaścaśabdenāvadyotyate | arthapratibhāso'pi cāyamitthaṃ sthito'yamanyatheti (p. 8) nāparāmṛṣṭo vyavasthāpayituṃ śakyate parāmarśavirahitasya pratibhāsasyāsaṃbhavādeva | na hi mārgagatipravṛttasyāpi pārśvavartitṛṇādivastusparśarūpādipratibhāsāḥ parāmarśarahitāḥ sattvenābhyupagantuṃ pāryante smaryamāṇatvābhāvāt | nāpi teṣāṃ tadā cakṣurādikāraṇasāmagrīsadbhāvenānumānasiddhā sattā yujyate manovadhānābhāvāt | tadbhāve'vaśyaṃbhāvī tadānīṃ tṛṇādiparāmarśa idānīṃ ca smaraṇaṃ | etacca pratyabhijñāyāṃ nirṇītam | evaṃ ca vimarśamaya evārthapratibhāsa upapannaḥ | vimarśaśca yathāgnirdhūme iti bhavati, tathā saṃskṛtasya pramāturasya dhūmasyāgniḥ kāraṇamasya dhūmaḥ kāryamityapi bhavati, - ityevamekātmatāpattiparyanto'vabhāsanavyāpāro'rtheṣu jñānānāṃ, na tu parasparāsaṃlagnatā prakāśamātrātparisamāpyate | parasparaviśeṣaṇaviśeṣyabhāvaparāmarśa evānekaikatārūpasaṃbandhaparāmarśaḥ | ekaparāmarśavyāpārāviṣṭa eva sāṃsārikavyavahāreṣu māyīyaḥ pramātā na tadānīmeva parāmarśāntarasparśamapyarhati cidaikyākhyātibhedanibandhanavikalpanaparāmarśātmakatvānmāyā pramātṝṇāmityetadapi īśvarapratyabhijñāyāmeva prapañcitam | vyavahāre rājā puruṣo vā prādhānyena jijñāsitaḥ pratipipādayiṣitaśca bhavediti sa eva viśeṣya ucyate paraśca viśeṣaṇamityatrāpi na kācitkṣatiḥ | dvayoścaikye'pi viśeṣaṇaṃ viśeṣyīkṛtasvarūpaṃ viśeṣyātmanā cakāsti svarūpeṇāpi cāvabhāti rājñaḥ puruṣa iti | rājapuruṣa iti tu viśeṣaṇabhūto rājā sarvathā parihāritasvarūpo viśeṣyātmatāmevaikāntenāpannaḥ prathate, - (p. 9) iti na tatra saṃbandhavācoyuktiḥ | nīlamutpalamityatrāpi utpalāntaḥpraviṣṭaṃ nīlamiti nīlavadutpalaṃ pradhānam | sthālyāṃ kāṣṭhairityatrāpi kartrāśritāṃ kriyāmupalīnāḥ sthālyādayaḥ prakāśante | ghaṭasyābhāva ityatrāpi abhāvo vikalpabuddhāvantarnītaghaṭaḥ prādhānyenāvabhāti | ayamasmādanya ityanyārtho'nyatvāparityāgenaivāntarnītāparānyārtho viśeṣya iti | evaṃ sarvatrānumantavyam | kriyākārakasaṃbandhe [kha. pu. saṃbhinna iti pāṭhaḥ |] tātkālikopakāryopakārakabhāvamayasaṃbandhābhāsaḥ, śeṣasaṃbandhe tu smaryamāṇopakāramayaḥ smaraṇāvasthāyāmapi ca pūrvadṛṣṭārthāvabhāsa eva parāmarśaikyādityuktam | na kevalaṃ ca saṃbandhamayaikatāsparśiparimitamāyāmātṛparyavasāyī vastuprakāśanavyāpāro, yāvadanantacinmayaśivatāvabhāsaviśrāntaiva pratikṣaṇaṃ vastusaṃvitkriyā | na ca saṃvidaḥ kramo'sti ekaivaikatraiva kṣaṇe'rthaprakāśanā, saiva saṃbandhaśivatāmayameva svarūpamāviṣkaroti, - ityucyate | tathā cācāryadharmakīrtiḥ bahirmukhaṃ ca tajjñānaṃ bhātyarthapratibhāsavat [kha. pu. bhāvārtheti pāṭhaḥ |] | buddheśca grāhikā buddhirnityamantarmukhātmani || iti | antarmukheti, ātmanīti ca svasaṃvedanamarthābhāsaśūnyamapṛthagbhūtaṃ coktam | tathā pratyabhijñāyāmuktaṃ yā caiṣā pratibhānantapadārthakramarūṣitā | akramānantacidrūpaḥ pramātā sa maheśvaraḥ || (ī. pra. 1|7|1) ityetattatraiva vitatya pradarśitam | yadapyuktaṃ pratītikāla (p. 10) eva sāmānyasyeva saṃbandhasyābhyupagama iti, tanna kevalamasya yāvatsarvasyaivārthasya bodhabahirbhūtasya kasyacidabhāvāt | sāmānyaṃ caikamanekamayaṃ bahirapi pṛthageva sāmānyanikurambarūpebhyaḥ svalakṣaṇebhyaḥ [kha. pu. lakṣaṇaḥ iti pāṭhaḥ |] | taccaikenaiva śabdenāniyatasvalakṣaṇāśrayatvena pratipādyate, tacca kalpitasvalakṣaṇasaṃbandhamekaśabdapratipādyameva gauriti | ata eva samavāyākhyaḥ saṃbandha ucyate | sāmānādhikaraṇye'pi dvayorekaniṣṭhatā | tatra caikaṃ tadvastu astivākyapratipādyaṃ nīlamutpalamiti | saṃbandhaḥ punardvayorviśeṣyaikyatā na tvevaṃ vastvantaraṃ prakāśate, -
