sakalastu vṛto devairoṃkāradyairanukramāt | rudrāṣṭādaśakaṃ brāhma iti | tayorapi punaradhye tṛpravaktṛbhedo'pyuktaḥ | eteṣvapi bhedeṣu adhyetṛbhedāt vaktṛbhedāt bhedovaktumaśakya | ata evāsya śivajñānasyāvatārabhedāt kriyābhedācca bhedo na tvarthavyavasthā bhedādvā phalabhedādvā | taduktaṃ śrīmatsvāyambhuve - ekameva śivajñānaṃ vibhinnaṃ daśadhā punaḥ | tathāṣṭādaśadhā bhūyo bhedāntaravisarpitam iti || ekameva śivajñānaṃ vibhinnaṃ bahudhā punaḥ | upabhedopabhedānāmasya saṃkhyā na vidyate || bhedāntarāṇi sarvāṇi mahānti na mahāntyapi | dīkṣā saṃpratyayārthāni siddhimukti phalāni ceti || p. 61) anyepyāhu - śivānantayoḥ paraḥ sambandhaḥ anantaśrīkaṇṭhayoḥ mahān śrīkaṇṭhaśakrayorantarādhaḥ śakrabharadvājayoddhivyo bharadvāja hārītayordivyādivyo hārītena tacchiṣyāṇāmadivya ityeva manyeṣvapi yathāyogaṃ draṣṭavyam | evamāparameśvarādavicchinna guru saṃpradāyasmaraṇāt tatkṛtatvenasya śāstrasya prāmāṇyaṃ siddham | taduktaṃ śrīmanmataṅge - pramāṇamekaṃ tadvākyaṃ tattvamīśvara bhāṣitam iti | nanu nityatvenāgamasya prāmāṇyamiti kecit | tadayuktam asya kṛtaka āgamaḥ saṃbhavati racanāvatvādabhinava viracitavākyavat | racanā ca setvādivat | tasyā kartāraṃ na vyabhicarati | tasmādāpta praṇītatvenaivāgamasya prāmāṇyam | parameśvaraśca paramāptaḥ | nityanirmalaniratiśaya sarvārtha jñānakriyā yuktatvādrāgadveṣā bhāvena vipralambhāsaṃbhavāt sarvānugrāhakatvācca | taduktaṃ śrīmanmohaśūrottare - yadyathāvasthitaṃ vastu sarvajñastat tathā vadediti | īśvaraśca yogi pratyakṣādanumānācca siddhaḥ | p. 62) tathā hi śrīmanmataṅge - śaktisiddhipūrvamīśvarasiddhimuktvā yogi pratyakṣagamyatvamuktam | śaktaśca śaktimān siddhopyathavā munipuṅgava | akṣāṇi pratipratyakṣaṃ manaścākṣamanuttamam || saṃkalpaviṣayaṃ siddhaṃ saṃkalpādeva kevalāt | prapattavyaṃ munivyāghra kimanyat paripṛcchasi || iti na ca yogino'siddhā iti vācyam | yacchruyate - ātmānamaraṇiṃ kṛtvā praṇavaṃ cottarāraṇim | jñānanirmathanābhyāsād devaṃ paśyen nigūḍhavaditi || anumānasiddhatvamapyuktaṃ śrīmanmṛgendrādau - athopalabhya dehādi vastu kāryatvadharmakam | kartāramasya jānīmo viśiṣṭamanumānataḥ || vaiśiṣṭyaṃ kāryavaiśiṣṭyād dṛṣṭaṃ lokasthitāvapīti | āgamasīddhatvamapyuktaṃ śrīmanmataṅge - pañcamantratanuḥ śrīmān sakalaḥ paripaṭhyate | suprasannendriyagrāmaḥ sarvajñaḥ sarvagocaraḥ || yogayogeśvaraḥ svāmī svatantraḥ paśupāśahā | tasyoktiḥ pauruṣaiḥ sthūlaiḥ pramāṇairna ca bādhyate || iti | eṣāceśvarasiddhiḥ sarvāsu saṃhitāsu nyāsādiṣu ca vistareṇa sādhitatvānnātra likhyate | na ceśvara kṛtādāgamādīśvarasiddhā - p. 63) vitaretarāśrayadoṣaḥ āśaṅkanīyaḥ dvayorapi visadṛśakriyatvāt | īśvarohyāgamasya kartā āgamastu taṃ jñāpayatīti | kiṃ ca tadukteṣu ca dṛṣṭārtheṣu phalavattvamupalabhyādṛṣṭārthasyāpi tacchāstrasyāvitathatvaṃ manumīyate | taduktaṃ śrīmanmataṅgepi - viśeṣasyānumānasya trividhasyāpi niścayāt | āgamādāptavaktrotthānnānyathā munipuṅgava || āptaścaivāgamāt siddhaḥ sacedānīṃ vicāryate | āyurvedāt sagaṇitān mantra vādācca sasphuṭāt || rasopaniṣadāṭopādāptaḥ saṃparigṛhyate iti | nanu devataiva tāvanna siddhā | tatsaṃbhave hi tadviśeṣasyeśvarasya siddhiḥ | sā tu śabdamātraiva | tathāhi - karmānuṣṭhānādeva phalaṃ na devatāyāḥ tadbādhakatvenābhimatarudrendrādiśabdabhedena pramāṇāntarairasiddheḥ | ata eva tena saha saṃbandhagrahaṇā saṃbhavādāgamenāpya siddhiḥ | tata eva ca saṃbandhagrahaṇeti taretarāśrayato'siddireva | tataśca raudraṃ caruṃ nivarpetsvargakāma ityādābuddeśyakārakatayā viśiṣṭakarmāṅgatvena sa eva devatāśabdaḥ pratīyata iti kriyāta eva phalaṃ yuktaṃ na devatāta iti jaiminīyāḥ | atrocyate | evaṃ hi devatāyāḥ śabdamātratve phalamapi p. 64) śabdamātrameva syādyato jyotiṣṭomena svargakāmo yajetetyādau svargādyātmakaṃ phalamapi tadvadeva pramāṇāntarasiddham | atha yadi śabdādi yogaṃ vināpi nārtharahita paraḥ śabdaḥ saṃbhavatīti purāṇetihāsāṃdiprasiddhaṃ viśiṣṭamevātra svargaśabdaḥ phalatvenābhidadhātityucyate tadihāpi samānamiti na śabda eva devatāpi tu tadvācyo'rthaviśeṣa eva svavācakādbhinnā devadatrādi śabdavācyātmavaditi saiva phaladāna tu karmamātraṃ tasya kṛṣyādi karmavat phalajananamātra eva sāmarthyādacetanatvenedaṃ phalamasmai dāsyāmīti vivekābhāvāt | śabdo hi viditapadapadārtha pratyāyakatvena bhavatopi siddha iti indrādi śabdānāmapi śabdatvenaivārtha pratyāyakatva siddhestatpratyeyo devatā lakṣaṇo'rthaḥ svargalakṣaṇa phalavat siddha evamanumānādi siddhatvamapīśvaralakṣaṇa devatāyāḥ prāgevoktamiti na pramāṇāntarāsiddhaṃ nāpītestarāśraya doṣaḥ | yadāhuḥ - śrutisiddhyarthaṃ śrutopalabdho yatnavatā bhavitavyam na śrutisiddhau yatna viśeṣaśaithilyamācaraṇīyamiti | tataśca somapāḥśatakraturityādi śrutisiddhasya devatā viśeṣasya karmaṇonirūpasya ca vajrahastaṃ sahasrākṣamindramīḍe caturbhujamityādi śrutisiddhasya śabdamātrasyāsaṃbhavāt tat tad viśeṣeṇa viśiṣṭā devatā siddhaiva | śrutirapi tāviśeṣayā devamaitraḥ p. 65) dṛśyate yathā - indro diva indra-īśe pṛthivyā ityādi | na ca devatāyā mūrtatvāt asmadādi vadaneka deśayāgasannidhiranupapanneti vācyam | asyā aṇimādyaiśvarya yogena vāsudeva saubhāryādivat prākāmyaśaktyā yugapadameka deśasannidhiryujyata eva yataḥ | taduktaṃ śrīmatparākhye - śabdamātrasthite mantre śabdamātraṃ phalaṃ tathā | na cārtharahitaḥ śabdaḥ padavākya gatakramaḥ || vācyaśca vācakād bhinno devadattādi śabdavat | pratyāyakaśca te śabdapatyayertha vivarjitaḥ || tena sā vācakād bhinnā vācyā sā devatā dhruvam | viśeṣaṇaṃ yatastasyāṃ karmarūpābhidhāyakam || pratipannaṃ viśeṣeṇa vedavākyaistathāvidhaiḥ | stutāpi devatā yasmāt stutyā sābhimukhī bhavet || athārthavādatastasyā devatāyā viśeṣaṇam | yadi tatparamārthena virodhaḥ katamo bhavediti || devatā śrūyate śāstre tata eva phalaṃ mahat | mahāvīryopapannatvāt tayā sthāsyati sa kṛtau || vedānta vādināṃ yadvadanantatvaṃ tvanugrahaḥ | iti ca kaḥ pratyetyartha varjitaḥ | artha vivarjitaḥ śabdā iti ko vetti itthaṃ śrīmanmṛgendre ca - na jātu devatāmūrtirasmadādiśarīravat | p. 66) viśiṣṭaiśvarya saṃpannā sāto naitannidarśanam | ityādi | yadyevamīśvarasyāpi śarīritvādasmadādivadasarvajñatvamasarvakartṛkatvaṃ ca syāt | tataśca paramāptatvānupapapattiḥ | aśarīraścet kartṛtvanupapattiḥ | yadāhuḥ - kāryaṃ śarīrayuktena kartrā vyāptaṃ sadaiva yat | kāryatvāt tena jagataḥ kartā dehī prasajyate || iti | aśarīro hyadhiṣṭhātā nātmā muktātmavadbhavediti ca | tataśceśvarasyāpi sāvayavatvenā nityatvāt tasyānyena kartrā bhavitavyam | tasyāpi śarīritvena kartrantarāpekṣāyā manavasthā | tanna ātmanaḥ svadehaspandādau śarīrāntarānapekṣayā icchāmātreṇa kartṛtvadarśanāt | nanvicchāmātreṇa kartṛtvaṃ svādhiṣṭitaśarīrasyandādau dṛṣṭam | na tu bāhye mṛdādijanye ghaṭādau | satyam | ata-eva sadādhiṣṭhāyakatvena viśvamīśvarasya śarīramivānumīyate | tasmādicchāmātreṇeśvaraḥ sṛṣṭādi tanoti | ātmanāṃ hi malādiyogādeva jñāna kriyayoḥ śarīrendriyāpekṣā | īśvarasya tu nitya nirmalattvātadapekṣā nāstyeva | yatuktaṃ śrīmatkiraṇe - yathā kālo hyamūrtopi dṛśyate phalasādhakaḥ | evaṃ śivo hyamūrtopi kurute kāryamicchayeti || mohakārikāsu ca - ajāta malasaṃbandhaḥ sarvajñaḥ sarvakṛdvibhuḥ | p. 67) sakalo niṣkalo'nantaḥ svecchānantarakārya kṛditi | śaktistu śarīrendriyādi kāryaṃ kurvāṇā bhagavataḥ śarīratayā karaṇa tayocyate | taduktaṃ śrīmanmṛgendrādau - mūlādyasaṃbhavācchāktaṃ vapurno tādṛśaṃ vibhoḥ | tadvapuḥ pañcabhirmantraiḥ pañcakṛtyopayogibhiḥ || īśa tatpuruṣāghoravāmājairmastakādikamityuktā | itthaṃ śaktiḥ kurvatī dehakṛtyaṃ dehābhāvāducyate dehaśabdaiḥ | tasyā bhedāyepi vāmādayaḥ syuḥ tepi proktā kṛtyabhedena sadbhiḥ || iti | karaṇaṃ ca na śaktyanyācchaktirnā cetanācita ityādinā ca | śrutāvapi tasya * * karaṇaṃ ca dṛśyate na ca tatsaṃścāpyadhikaśca dṛśyate | parāsya śaktirvividhaiva śrūyate svābhāvikī jñānabalakriyā ceti | ata eva jñānasyāpyasya na śarīrendriyā pekṣā | yaduktaṃ śrīmanmṛgendre - sarvajñaḥ sarvakartṛtvātsādhanāṅgaphalaiḥ saha | yo yajjānāti kurute sa tadeveti susthitam || taccasyā vṛtti śūnyatvānna vyañjakamapekṣate | tanna sāṃśayikaṃ tasmād viparītaṃ na jānucit || yānivyañjakamīhante vṛtatvān malaśaktibhiḥ | vyañjakasyānurodhena tāni syurvyāhatānyapi || nādhyakṣaṃ nāpi tallaiṅgaṃ na śabdamapi śāṃkaram | jñānamābhāti vimalaṃ sarvadā sarvavastuṣviti || p. 68) kathaṃ tarhi pañcavaktrastripañcadṛgityādibhirīśvarasya śarīramāgameṣu stūyate dhyānārthameva | tanna | dhyānākāre dhyānapūjādyupapadyate | yaduktaṃ śrīmatpauṣkarādau - sādhakasya tu lakṣyārthaṃ tasya rūpamidaṃ smṛtam | sarvataḥ pāṇipādaṃ tatsarvatokṣiśiromukham || ityādinā anyairapyuktaṃ - ākāravāṃstvaṃ niyamādupāsyo na vastvanākāramupainibuddhiḥ | iti kathaṃ tasya śāstropadeśakatvam | icchāmātreṇa vidyeśvarādīnāṃ śāstrāvabodhakatvamevātropadeśakatvaṃ na tu vāgindriyavyāpāraḥ | yaduktaṃ śrīmatparākhye - sannidhāne yatastasmin sarvakāryasya saṃbhavaḥ | akṣahīnepi sāmarthyaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ tatkarṣakātmani || sāmarthyaṃ tadvadīśasya sarvakṛtye nisargajam | iti | anyepyāhuḥ - sānnidhyamātratastasya puṃsaścintāmaṇeriva | nissaranti yathākāmaṃ kuḍyādibhyo nideśanāḥ || iti | tasmādīśvara praṇītatvenāsya śaivāgamasya prāmāṇyam | nanu darśanāntareṣvapi hiraṇyagarbhādaya īśvarāḥ śrūyante | tebhyosya ko viśeṣaḥ | atrocyate | teṣāṃ paśupāśarūpatveneśvarāntara pūrvakatvānna sarveśvaratvaṃ saṃbhavati | tathā hi prakṛtireva paratra śabdavācyo nārāyaṇaḥ p. 69) yo vā īśvaraḥ kaiścidadhyātmavidbhiḥ pāñcarātrikaiśceṣyate tasyopādāna kāraṇatvāditatyāraprakṛtedi * * * pihiraṇyagarbha samavartatāgre bhūtasya jātaḥ patireka āsīdityādi śrutyarthatayā hiraṇyagarbhākhyeśvarastasyāḥ prakṛtervikāre dhyātmavidbhedairīśvaraḥ proktaḥ pāñcarātrika bhedairvā cāturātmalakṣaṇaḥ | yatuktaṃ - īśāstu te samabhavan prakṛteḥ padasyāḥ kṛṣṇāniruddhamakaradhvajarauhiṇeyāḥ iti tasyāpyutpattyapavargayogitvād brahmendrādediva dhātrantareṇa bhavitavyam | yaścāpi buddhisaṃyogādīśvaraḥ pātañjalairuktaḥ tanaḥ saṃyogānnaiyāyika vaiśeṣikaistasyāpīśvaratvopāyabhūtāsau saṃyogaḥ saṃyogatvādeva ghaṭapaṭādi saṃogavadanityo'vyāpakaśceti na sarvatra sarvadā ceśvaratvam | ato bhuvaneśvarāṇāmapi dāttantareṇa bhavitavyam | yaścaivaṃ sarveṣāmeva dātā sa evāsmābhirmaheśvaratvenābhyupagatastasyaivaṃ dātṛpūrvakatvenāsiddhe | nanu darśanāntara siddhānā viśeśvarāṇāṃ lokavedasiddhatvātkathaṃ maheśvaratvaṃ pratikṣipyata iti cet | tanna | vedādiśāstrato lokaprasiddhācārasyaiva maheśvaratva pradarśanāt | tathā ca śrutiḥ - eka eva rudro na dvitīyāyatasva iti atra avadhāraṇena dvitīya niṣedhena ca rudrasyaiva maheśvaratvaṃ sthāpyate | rudreṣvapi maheśvarāya śitikaṇṭhāya tryambakāya na ca namo nama iti purāṇeṣvapi- nauṣadhībhirmaheśānamantrairna ca rasāyanaiḥ | prāpyate kuśalaṃ tādṛgyādṛktvaṃ nāma kīrtanāditi | bhāratādāvapi vāsudevārjunādikṛteṣu saptaśatarudrādi p. 70) stotreṣu tasyaiva maheśvaratvena prasiddhiḥ | ata eva - bhagavadgītāsu daśame'dhyāye- ye māmajamanādi ca vetti lokamaheśvaramityātmano nārāyaṇa bhaṭṭāraka parimitatarāmeva bhūrādidvisaptalokaviṣaya maheśvaratvamāha | na tu sarvabhuvanādi viṣayamiti | kathaṃ tarhi śerate na dauvaṃ keśavātparaṃ ityuktam | ata eva bhautika sargaviṣayātpiśācādi pitāmahāntādaṣṭavidhād devayonivargādasau paraḥ proktaḥ na tu maheśvara iti ko virodhaḥ | yaduktam -
