dūṣaṇagaṇaṃ cāpādya saddṛkkriyam | tadbrahmetyupapādya viśvamakhilaṃ tadrūpamācakṣmahe || 2 || ataḥ śivādvaitasumaṃjarī syādviśvasthitistatpratipādanena || yuktā tadākhyā'sya tatastanotu toṣaṃ sadeyaṃ śivabhaktibhājām || 3 || atra vaiyyāsikeṣu vivartavādino hi vyāsasūtrābhiprāyamitthaṃ varṇayaṃti || tathāhi || yuṣmadasmatpratyayagocarayorviṣayaviṣayiṇostamaprakāśavadviruddhasvabhāvayor itaretarabhāvānupapattau siddhāyāṃ taddharmāṇāmapi sutarāmitaretarabhāvānupapattirityato'smatpratyayagocare viṣayiṇi cidātmake yuṣmatpratyayagocarasya viṣayasya taddharmāṇāṃ cādhyāsastadviparyayeṇa viṣayiṇastaddharmāṇāṃ ca viṣaye'dhyāso mithyeti bhavituṃ yuktaṃ | tathāpyanyonyasminnanyonyātmakatāmanyonyadharmāṃścādhyasyetaretarāvivekenā tyaṃtaviviktayordharmadharmiṇormithyājñānanimittaḥ satyānṛte mithunīkṛtyāhamidaṃ mamedamiti naisargiko'yaṃ lokavyavahāraḥ, āha ko'yamadhyāso nāmeti ucyate, smṛtirūpaḥ paratra pūrvadṛṣṭāvabhāsaḥ taṃ kecidanyatrānyādhyāsa iti vadaṃti | kecittu yatra yadadhyāsastadvivekāgrāhanibaṃdhano bhrama pṛ0 2) iti | anye'pi tu yatra yadadhyāsastasyaiva tadviparītadharmatvakalpanāmācakṣate | sarvathāpi tu anyasyānyadharmāvabhāsakatāṃ [anyadharmāvabhāsakatāmavyabhicarati |] na vyabhicarati tathā ca loke anubhavaḥ, śuktikā hi rajatavadavabhāsate ekaścaṃdrassa dvitīyavaditi kathaṃ punaḥ pratyagātmanyaviṣaye adhyāso viṣayataddharmāṇāṃ sarvo hi puro'vasthitaviṣaye viṣayāṃtaramadhyasyati, yuṣmatpratyayāropitasya [yuṣmatpratyayopetasya |] pratyagātmano viṣayatvaṃ bravīṣi, ucyate na tāvadayamekāṃtenāviṣayaḥ asmatpratyayaviṣayatvādaparokṣatvācca pratyagātmaprasiddheḥ || na cāyamasti niyamaḥ, purovasthita eva viṣaye viṣayāṃtaramadhyasitavyamiti apratyakṣe'pyākāśe bālāstalamalinatādyadhyasyaṃti | evamaviruddhaḥ pratyagātmanyapyanātmatādhyāsaḥ tametamevaṃ lakṣaṇamadhyāsaṃ paṃḍitā avidyeti manyaṃte tadvivekena ca vastusvarūpā ca dhāraṇaṃ vidyāmāhuḥ || tatraivaṃ sati yatra yadadhyāsaḥ tatkṛtena guṇena doṣeṇa vā'ṇumātreṇāpi na saṃbadhyate, tametamavidyākhyamātmānātmanoritaretarādhyāsaṃ puraskṛtya sarve pramāṇaprameyavyavahārā laukikā vaidikāśca pravṛttāḥ sarvāṇi ca śāstrāṇi vidhipratiṣedhamokṣaparāṇītyādinā evamayamanādiranaṃto naisargiko'dhyāso mithyāpratyayarūpaḥ kartṛtvabhoktṛtvapravartanaḥ sarvalokapratyakṣa ityaṃtena graṃthenādhyāsasvarūpamupapādya pratyakṣādipramāṇopalakṣitanikhilaprapaṃcasyāvidyāviṣayatvaṃ pratipādya asyānarthahetoḥ prahāṇāya ātmaikatvavidyāpratipattaye sarve vedāṃtā ārabhyaṃta iti jaḍacetanavibhāgapūrvakaṃ pratijñāya tatpratijñāpūraṇāyādhyāyacatuṣṭayātmakaṃ śāstraṃ nirviśeṣabrahmādvaitaparatvena pratipāditaṃ || atredaṃ ciṃtyate avidyāsadbhāve kiṃ mānamiti tatra pratyakṣamutānumānamāhosvidāgamāḥ kimāṃtarīyānubhavo vā ucyate | tasyā acākṣuṣatve'pi dṛśyakāryānyathānupapattyā vidyāṃ cāvidyāṃ ca iti śruteḥ ahamajña ityanubhavācca anādyanirvacanīyā brahmāśritā jīvaviṣayiṇī bhāvarūpā kācidavidyā'stīti niścīyata iti cet tatpramāṇasyāvidyāyāśca [evaṃvidhapramāṇaṃ kena siddhamityākāṃkṣāyāṃ vidyayetyanyonyāśrayāpatteḥ kiṃ ca] bhedo vā yadyabhedo vā nādyaḥ avidyātirekasya vidyātvena tatpramāṇasyāpi vidyaikarūpatāvaśyaṃbhāvena tattrisatyatvaprasaṃgāt || naca tatpramā- pṛ0 3) ṇasyāvidyākāryatvena bhedāṃgīkārānna doṣa iti vācyaṃ | kāryakāraṇayorbhede [kāryarūpapramāṇakāraṇībhūtaviṣayorbhedābhedavikalpāsahiṣṇutvāttathā hi |] taṃtughaṭayoriva bhinnasvabhāvatvenākāraṇatvaprasaṃgāt abhede [na ca mṛddhaṭayoriva saṃbhavatīti vācyaṃ tantudyaṭayoriva mṛddhaṭayorātyantikabhedaśūnyatvāt-tantuvanmukhyakāraṇatvaprasaṃgāt-ato dṛṣṭāṃtasya vaiṣamyāt na ca tantughaṭayoriva mṛddhaṭayorbhedāviśeṣe'pyanvayavyatirekābhyāṃ ghaṭaṃ prati mṛd eva kāraṇatvaṃ niścīyata iti vācyaṃ tādṛganvayavyatirekasiddhakāryakāraṇabhāvastāvanmṛddhaṭayoḥ kiṃ nibandhana ityanveṣaṇīyatvāt | na ca vinābhāvādisaṃbandha eva niyāmaka iti vācyaṃ sopi kiṃ nibandhana ityanveṣaṇīyatvāt | tantughaṭayoriva mṛddhaṭayorapi bhedaviśeṣāt tasmādananyagatikatvena mṛddhaṭayorbhedābheda eva śaraṇīkaraṇīyaḥ na ca bhavatāṃ neṣṭa iti na ca bhedābhedayorvirodhātkathaṃ bhedābhedastayoraṃgīkartuṃ śakyata iti vācyaṃ anyathānupapatterbalīyastvāt mṛdeva ghaṭākāreṇa bhātīti mṛddhaṭo na saṃbhavatīti parihartumaśakyatvāt yadi ghaṭo nāstītyapi vaktuṃ na śakyatvāt mṛdaḥ kuṃbho jāyata ityādivyavahāre vartamānakālarūḍhajanikriyāyā nirāśrayatvaprasaṃgāt janmakāle ghaṭābhāvāt utpatya- saṃbhavatvāt tasmānmṛdādihetuvastuṣu kāryasāmarasyaṃ nāstītyaṃgīkaraṇīyatvena daṇḍaghaṭayorivātyaṃtikabhedāsaṃbhavena sāmarasyābhedasyaivāṃgīkaraṇīyatvāt anyathā daṃḍaghaṭadṛṣṭāntena kāraṇībhūtāvidyānivṛttāvapi tatkāryanivṛttirnasyāt tasmātkāryakāraṇayorbhedābhedāṃgīkāreṇa vinā kāryakāraṇabhāvāsaṃbhavāt bhedābhedasyānabhibhavatvāt uktarītyā vidyātiriktasya vidyātvena tatkāryatāyā asaṃbhavācca || -(anyagranthe labdho'yaṃ viṣayaḥ)] satyekarūpatvena kāryamiti kāraṇamiti vibhāgāsaṃbhavāt bhedābhedayorvirodhena anaṃgīkārāt tata eva mṛddhaṭadṛṣṭāntasyāpi durāpāstatvāt yadi bheda eveṣṭastadā tādātmyāsaṃbhavāt daṃḍanāśe'pi ghaṭasthitiriva kāraṇībhūtāvidyānivṛttāvapi tatkāryarūpaprapaṃcanivṛttirnasyāt iṣṭāpattau muktireva na syāt bandhasya prapaṃcāntargatatvāt nāpi dvitīyaḥ pramāṇaprameyayorabhedādidaṃ pramāṇamidaṃ prameyamiti vibhāgāsaṃbhavāt | yadi svasad- pṛ0 4) bhāve svayameva pramāṇaṃ tadā svaprakāśatāpattiḥ [ātmāśrayadoṣāpatteḥ iṣṭāpattau|] ātmavadanyanirapekṣayā bhāsamānatvāt na hi kaścidvyavaharan svasadbhāve pramāṇamicchati yadi sā'pīṣṭā tadā vidyaiva syāt avidyeti vārtaiva na syāt vidyā'pi na tatra pramāṇaṃ bhavitumarhati tasyāstāvanniraṃjanatvena caityoparāgaśūnyatvāt asāvavidyeti sphuraṇāsaṃbhavāt tasmādavidyāsadbhāve mānamanveṣaṇīyam || atha dvisatyatvaprasaṃgādapyavidyāṃgīkāro na saṃbhavati brahmātirekeṇa kācidavidyā nāstītyaṃgīkaraṇīyatvāt na cādhiṣṭhānagatasattaivāvidyāyāṃ tatkārye ca pratibhātīti noktadoṣa iti vācyaṃ sadasatoḥ satyāmavidyāyāṃ sā sattā bhāsate vā yadyasatyāṃ veti vikalpāt tatra nādyaḥ pūrvameva sadrūpeṇa sthitatvāt punaḥ sattāṃtarasaṃbaṃdhānavekṣaṇāt nāpi dvitīyaḥ asataḥ sattāsaṃbaṃdhāsaṃbhavāt sadasatorvirodhāt nacāvidyā sadasadvilakṣaṇeti noktadoṣa iti vācyaṃ tadrūpeṇāpi satyāmasatyāṃ veti vikalpe pūrvoktadoṣasyaivānuvṛtteḥ || atha yathākathaṃcidavidyāṃgīkāre'pi brahmāvidyayorāśrayāśrayibhāvo na saṃbhavati tayostejastimirayoriva virodhāt na colūkanetratejasyaṃdhakārākrāṃtatvena tejastimirayoḥ sarvatra virodhābhāvāttadvatsaṃbhavatīti vācyaṃ || divāṃdhāḥ prāṇinaḥ ke cidrātrāvaṃdhāstathāpare || keciddivā tathā rātrau prāṇinastvalpadṛṣṭayaḥ || iti saptaśatyāṃ smṛtatvena tasyālpadṛṣṭitvena sauratejobhibhūtatvena vedyagrahaṇāpāṭavatvāt anyathā rātrāvapi caṃdracaṃdrikādivedyadarśanaśūnyatvena sadāṃdhaḥ syāt tasya divāṃdha iti vyapadeśa eva na syāt nāpi caṃdrakalaṃkanyāyena saṃbhavati brahmaṇastāvanniraṃśatvena ūrdhvādhastiryagbhāgabhedaśūnyatvāt yadi tayoravirodhastadā'vidyāyāstatvadarśanādapi nivṛttirna syādavirodhādeva avirodhitayā karma nāvidyāṃ vinivartate ityuktvā brahmaṇo'jñatvaprasaṃgaśca aṃdhakārākrāṃtagṛhavat nāpyaṃśataḥ tasya niraṃśatvādavidyākalpitāṃśabhedo'pi na saṃbhavati kalpanāyāḥ prāgavasthānāsaṃbhavāt brahmabāhyadeśasyaivābhāvāt uktarītyā tatraiva sthiterasaṃbhavāt || pṛ0 5) athānirvacanīyatvamapi na saṃbhavati anādibhāvatvena nirvacanīyatvāt anāditvamapi na saṃbhavati ghaṭādivatsāṃśatvena jaḍatvena ca svataḥsiddhatvāsaṃbhavādaṃgīkāre svaprakāśatāpattiḥ parataḥsiddhatve ghaṭādivatkāryatvena kāraṇāṃtarānveṣaṇamukhenānavasthāprasaṃgāt | atha bhāvarūpatvamapi na saṃbhavati nañarthollikhitatvāt | atha viśvopādānatvaṃ ca na saṃbhavati svasattāśūnyatvāt jaḍatvena prerakatvābhāvācca | cetanasya niḥsaṃgatvena tadasaṃbhavāt nacāyaskāṃtadṛṣṭāṃtena caitanyasāṃnidhyavaśādavidyāyāḥ kāraṇatvaṃ saṃbhavatīti vācyaṃ, bhinnadeśasthitayoreva sāṃnidhyaniyamāt taddṛṣṭāṃtāt tadvadbrahmabāhyadeśābhāvāt brahmaṇyeva sthitāyāstu lohamaṇipraviṣṭasūceriva nirvyāpāratvāt viśvākāreṇa pariṇamanakriyāsaṃbhavāt, yadi nirāśrayaiva kāryaṃ janayet, tadā svataṃtratāpattyā durnivāryā syādiṣṭāpattau muktireva na syāt || atha jīvaviṣayakatvaṃ ca na saṃbhavati tasyāstāvajjaḍatvena viṣayatvāt jīvasya cetanatvena viṣayatvāt ato vaiparītyāt, aṃgīkāre'pi jīvasyāvidyākrāṃtahṛdayatvena nityānityavastuviveka eva na syāt, nāpi gurutaḥ śāstrataśca gurorapyavidyākrāṃtahṛdayatvāt śāstrasyāvidyākāryatvena tadekarūpatvāt | tasmādavidyāsadbhāve mānābhāvaḥ yathākathaṃcidaṃgīkāre'pi dvisatyatvaprasaṃgāt, brahmāvidyayostejastimirayoriva virodhena āśrayāśrayibhāvāsaṃbhavāt | avirodhe nivartya nivartakabhāvāsaṃbhavāt, brahmaṇo'jñatvaprasaṃgāt avidyāyā anāditvāsaṃbhavāt bhāvarūpatvāsaṃbhavādbrahmaṇastatprerakatvāsaṃbhavāt ata eva viśvopādānatvāsaṃbhavājjīvaviṣayakatvāsaṃbhavādaṃgīkāre tasya nityānityavastuvivekāsaṃbhavācca | asyānarthahetoḥ prahāṇāya śarve vedāṃtā ārabhyaṃta ityuktamayuktameva || vedāṃtānāṃ tadāraṃbhasya cāvidyaikarūpatvena avirodhitayā tannivartakatvāsaṃbhavāditi bhāvaḥ|| atha smṛtirūpaḥ paratrapūrvadṛṣṭāvabhāsa ityuktādhyāsalakṣaṇaṃ ca na saṃbhavati tathāhi purovartirajvādibāhyavalmīkādipradeśe saṃdṛṣṭabhujaṃgādipurovartirajvādāvāropyata iti dṛṣṭatvāt, tathātra brahmabāhyadeśasyābhāvāt loke tatraiva dṛṣṭasya tatraivāropasya kvāpyadarśanāt | śaṃkhapītimādhyāse pītimno'nyatra dṛṣṭatvāt, anyathā śaṃkhaḥ pīta iti na sphuret | pūrvaṃ pītādarśanāt pṛ0 6) anyathā bhramapramāviveka eva na syāt tatraiva dṛṣṭasya tatraivāṃgīkārādāropasya | na cottarakṣaṇabādhyamānatvameva bhramatvamiti vācyaṃ, ghaṭapaṭayoriva śuktirajatayorapi vastutvena bādhyabādhakabhāvāsaṃbhavāt nāpi śuktijñānena rajatajñānasya bādhaḥ, ghaṭapaṭajñānayoriva tayorbhinnakālabhinnaviṣayatvāt anyathā ghaṭajñānena paṭajñānamapi bādhyeta | na ca nedaṃ rajataṃ śuktirevetyauttarakālikajñānaṃ purotpannarajatajñānasya bādhakamityucyata iti vācyaṃ || ghaṭajñānānaṃtaraṃ ghaṭaṃ tyaktvā paṭaṃ paśyataḥ pramāturnāyaṃ ghaṭaḥ paṭa eveti niścayo'pi purotpannaghaṭajñānasya bādhakaḥ syāditi sarvasyāpi vikalpasya pratiyoginiṣedhapūrvakaniścayarūpatvāt | na ca tādṛgvikalpasya bhinnadharmikatvena virodhābhāvānna tatra bādhyabādhakabhāvaḥ iha tu ekasminneva dharmiṇi idaṃ rajataṃ nedaṃ rajatamiti viruddhāvabhāsadvayasya prāmāṇyāsaṃbhavādauttarakālikarajatābhāvajñānena purotpannarajatajñānasya bādhoṃ'gīkriyata iti vācyaṃ, bādhyabādhakabhāvasya daṃḍabhāṃḍanayena parasparānvayasāpekṣatvena tadabhāvāt tayorbhinnakālīnatvāt | nanu jñānānāṃ trikṣaṇāvasthāyitvaniyamena rajatābhāvajñānotpattikṣaṇe vinaśyadavasthāpannapurotpannarajatajñānasya vidyamānatvāt, tayoḥ parasparānvayaḥ saṃbhavati iti cenna || jñānānāṃ guṇatvena saṃyogena samavāyena vā tayoḥ parasparasamanvayābhāvāt jaḍatvena tādṛgaunmukhyaśūnyatvācca, bādhyabādhakabhāvo na saṃbhavatyeveti | kiṃtu ghaṭaṃ tyaktvā paṭaṃ paśyataḥ pramāturicchāvaśāt ghaṭajñānasya nimeṣaḥ paṭajñānasyonmeṣa iti vat ekasminneva dharmiṇi sānnidhyavaśāt nīlapṛṣṭhatvādiviśeṣaṃ paśyataḥ dūratvādinodbhūtaprāktanarajatajñānasya nimeṣaḥ nedaṃ rajataṃ śuktirevetyauttarakālikajñānasyonmeṣa ityaṃgīkaraṇīyatvena tulyatvāt | athārthakriyāyogyatvameva bhramatvamiti cenna, gaganakusumādinityābhāvapadārthasyāpi bhrāṃtatvaprasaṃgāt arthakriyāyogyatvāt tasyāpi bhrāṃtatve śuktirajatādivadidamiti netragocaratā syāt | gaganakusumāderapi śamarthaḥ padavidhiriti śabdānuśāsanavaśādekārthībhāvalakṣaṇasāmarthyakṛtasamāsayogādvastutv amaṃgīkaraṇīya eva | yogyāyogyatayoḥ prabhusṛṣṭervicitratvāt svātaṃtryaparikalpitaśuktitaratamabhāvanibaṃdhanatvāt śatyaṃ cānṛtaṃ ca satyamabhavaditi śruteḥ śadasaccāhamarjuneti smṛteśca sarvasyāpi saccinmuddhanatvāt || pṛ0 7) atha yuṣmadasmatpratyayagocarayorviṣayaviṣayiṇorityatra tatkṛtajaḍacetanavibhāgo'pi na saṃbhavati | tathāhi asmatpratyayavyatirekeṇānubhūyamānasukhādivattadgocarasya kasyacidadṛśyatvāt asmatpratyayasya mithyātvāt pratyayasya saviṣayatānyathānupapattyā anumīyate cedanumāturapyadṛśyatvāt tasmāttadabhimatacaitanyasya vaṃdhyāputraprāyatvena asmatpratyayaviṣayatvādaparokṣatvācca pratyagātmaprasiddherityukteratitucchatvāt | atha yuṣmapratyayagocarasya jaḍatvamapi na saṃbhavati | caitramaitrayorvivāde jāte, parasparatatprayuktatvaṃkāreṇa tayorahaṃprakārakabodhasyaivopalabdheḥ, cetanaviṣayakatvāt, jaḍasyedaṃ pratyayagocaratvāt idaṃ sarvamasṛjat idaṃ śarīraṃ kauṃteya kṣetramityabhidhīyate ityādipramāṇabalācca kiṃ jaḍasya tvaṃpratyayagocaratve tattvamasi ityupadeśo jaḍaṃ pratyeva syāt tasmāttvamahaṃ pratyayayoścaitanyaikaviṣayakatvāt, idamahamiti vaktavye yuṣmadgrahaṇamatyaṃtabhedopalakṣaṇārthamiti vadannapi pratyuktaḥ tayoścaitanyaikaviṣayakatvenātyaṃtābhedāt ṅa tvevāhaṃ jātu nāsaṃ na tvaṃ neme janādhipāḥ | na caiva na bhaviṣyāmaḥ sarve vayamataḥ param | iti bhagavatā vayamityuttamamadhyamaprathamākhyapuruṣatrayasyāpyasmatpratyayāṃtargatatvena kroḍīkṛtatvācca | ata eva tvamahaṃpratyayagocarayorviṣayaviṣayibhāvo'pi na saṃbhavati vaijātyābhāvāt caitanyasya caitanyāṃtarāgocaratvāt caitanyagocaraghaṭādivajjaḍatvaprasaṃgāt || na ca vyavasāyaṃ pratyanuvyavasāyasya prāmāṇyāṃgīkārānnāyaṃ niyama iti vācyaṃ, vyavasāyasya vyavasātari viśrāṃtatvena jñānasya ghaṭādivat kadāpīdamityapratīyamānatvena sadā prameyapadavīmuttīrṇatvāt vyavasāyānuvyavasāyayorghaṭasyaiva viṣayatvāt anuvyavasāyasya vyavasāyapratibhātaghaṭahṛdayaṃgamībhāvarūpatvāt mayā ghaṭo'yaṃ jñātaḥ iti | anyathā ghaṭe ghaṭāṃtarasyāpi prāmāṇyamaṃgīkaraṇīyaṃ syāt yadi ghaṭatvāvacchinnaghaṭasyedamiti sadā prameyapadaniṣṭhatvena kadāpi taduttīrṇatābhāvāt ghaṭe ghaṭāṃtaraṃ na pramāṇamiti cedatrāpi taulyāt jñānasya jñātṛpraviśrāṃtatvena kadāpīdamiti prameyapadapraviṣṭatvābhāvāditi tasmātsajātīyapadārthayorviṣayaviṣayibhāvo na saṃbhavatyeva | anyathā pramāṇamiti prameyamiti vyavasthaiva na syāt pramāṇarūpapramiterapi prameyatāṃgīkārāt | pṛ0 8) pramitiḥ pramāṇamityapyaṃgīkṛtatvāt evamātmanopi prameyatvaṃ na saṃbhavati pramātṛtvāt anyathā tasyāpi prameyatve pramātraṃtarasāpekṣatvenānavasthāprasaṃgaḥ syāt | prameyapramātrorbhedaghaṭitatvāt ata eva tvamahaṃpratyayagocarayorvirodho'pi na saṃbhavati caitanyaikarūpatvāt tejastimirayoriva virodhābhāvāt yadi tvaṃpratyayasya lakṣaṇayedaṃrūpatvameva vivakṣitaṃ | tadāpīdaṃpratyayagocarasya jaḍasya mayā'valokyate mamāvabhāsata ityātmaprakāśārūḍhatayā bhāsamānatvānna tayorvirodhaḥ evaṃ tejastimirayorapi na virodhaḥ tayorapyātmaprakāśamavalaṃbya bhāsamānatvāt, anyathā tayorvirodha iti sphūrtireva na syāt || tasya bhāsā sarvamidaṃ vibhāti tameva bhāṃtamanubhāti sarvamiti śruteśca nāpi tayoritaretarabhāvānupapattiḥ smṛtyanyathānupapattyā prameyasya pramādvārā pramātṛviśrāṃteraṃgīkaraṇīyatvāt, saṃskārādeva smṛtiḥ saṃbhavatīti cet, tasyāpi saviṣayatvenaivātmaviśrāṃtatvāt | na cānubhūtaghaṭasya naṣṭaṃtvena sahātmaviśrāṃterasaṃbhavāt tadviṣayatāsāhityamātreṇānubhūtapadārthaviṣayiṇī smṛtiḥ saṃskārātsaṃbhavatīti vācyaṃ, viṣayatāyā viṣayadharmatvena, tena vinā tatsāhityāsaṃbhavāt | yadi tayoraikyopapattirna syāttadā ghaṭo'yamiti na sphuret, tejobāhyāṃdhakāravatprakāśabāhyatvāt | na ca tejobāhyaghaṭavatprakāśaviṣayatvaṃ saṃbhavatīti vācyaṃ || ātmana ākāśaḥ saṃbhūta ityādiśruteḥ || uttarottarabhūtasya pūrvapūrvabhūtakāryatvena mṛddhaṭanyāyena paraṃparāyāstayostādātmyāt | api ca aṃtaḥkaraṇāvachinnatve caitanyasyāṃtaḥkaraṇapradeśamātraniṣṭhatvādviṣayāvachinnacaitanyasya viṣayapradeśamātraniṣṭhatvādubhayoḥ saṃbaṃdhābhāvānna ca vṛttidvārā saṃbhavatīti vācyaṃ, caitanyasya traividyāṃgākāreṇa vṛttiviṣayāvachinnacaitanyayorekalolībhāve'pyaṃtaḥkaraṇāvacchinnaśārīra kasya viṣayāvacchinnacaitanyenaikalolībhāvābhāvāttasya pariṇāmitvenāṃtaḥkaraṇena saha bahirnirgamanāsaṃbhavātpradeśabhedena caitanyabhedādbhedadarśane'pi jñānasyātmaguṇatvena parakīyaguṇadravyaiḥ saṃyogena samavāyena vā saṃsparśābhāvādeva nīlāderviṣayatvāsaṃbhavājjñānasya viṣayitvāsaṃbhavāt || evaṃ coktarītyā nityānityavastuvivekaśūnyatvena svaśāstrasya vaiyyarthyaprasaṃgāttādṛśādhikāryabhāvāttasmāttanmate jaḍacetanavibhāgaśūnyatvāt pṛ0 9) ata eva jīveśvaravibhāgāsaṃbhavāt ata eva baṃdhamokṣavyavasthāyā gaganakusumāyamānatvāttadabhimatāṃtaḥkaraṇaviśiṣṭasya śārīrakasyādhikāriṇaḥ nityānityavastuvivekaśūnyatvādbrahmaṇo nirviśeṣatvenāsminprakāśe naṃdāmītyuttamāṃtargatākarmakākramasvasattāmuktāsphuraṇaśūnyatvena, sphaṭikādiprakāśavajjaḍatvāttattvajñānena prapaṃcasya bādhāṃgīkāreṇa chāṃdogyopadiṣṭaikavijñānoditasarvavijñānapratijñābhaṃgaprasaṃgāt | athāto brahmajijñāsā ityatra nirviśeṣabrahmaṇa eva jijñāsyatvenoddiṣṭatvāt, samanaṃtarasūtroktatadasādhāraṇajagajjanmādilakṣaṇamapyasaṃgataṃ syāt, tasya kartṛtvādiśūnyatvādanuddiṣṭapadārthalakṣaṇakathanasya śāstrakṛdbhiranaṃgīkṛtatvāt, ata eva śāstrayonitvādityādyuttaraśāstrapravṛtteḥ kuṃṭhitatvātprāmāṇikairvidvadbhistaduktamanādaraṇīyamiti saṃkṣepaḥ|| nanvevaṃ cetkathamadvaitavādanirvāhaḥ viśvopādānakāraṇībhūtamithyāpratyayarūpāvidyāyā anaṃgīkārāt, brahmaṇo nirvikāratvena pariṇamanāsaṃbhavāt vikāritvādidoṣaprasaṃgāt, prakāśabāhyopādānakāraṇāṃtarasyāṃgīkāro na saṃbhavatyeva | advaitasiddhāṃtavirodhāditi cet itthamālocanīyaṃ śan hṛdayaprakāśo bhavanasya kriyāyā bhavati kartā saiva kriyāvimarśaḥ svasthā kṣubhitā ca viśvavistāreti sārasvatasūtrasthityā hṛdayaprakāśaḥ hṛdayaṃ tadvijānīyādviśvasyāyatanaṃ mahaditi śruteḥ carācaraprapaṃcabhittibhūtātmaprakāśaḥ san astītyaṃgīkaraṇīyaḥ| anyathā jagadāṃdhyamāpateteti svasattāhāniprasaṃgāt asanneva sa bhavati asadbrahmeti veda cet asti brahmeti cedveda saṃtamenaṃ tato viduriti śruteḥ tadupajīvyatvāt asyaivānaṃdasyānyāni bhūtāni mātramupajīvaṃtīti śruteḥ sahṛdayaprakāśa evāstīti bhavanakriyāśrayatvātkartā bhavati | saiva kriyā svasthā ceccidānaṃdamātraviśrāṃtā cet, asmin prakāśe nandāmiti vimarśaḥ| anyathā sphaṭikādiprakāśavajjaḍatvaprasaṃgāt, kṣubhitā cetsṛṣṭyunmukhā cet dṛśyate tviti brahmasūtrasthityā gomayādervṛścikādyutpattiriva śivādibhūmyaṃtaṣaṭtriṃśattattvātmakavicitraviśvasphuraṇamayī bhavatīti| tathāhi || parāsya śaktirvividhaiva śrūyate svābhāvikī jñānabalakriyā ca || iti śrutisthānuktārthaprakāśakacakāracamatkārāt, maheśvarasvabhāvabhūtaparāśakteścidānaṃdecchājñānakriyādinānārūpatā vagamāt | na pṛ0 10) ca kāmaḥ saṃkalpo vicikitsā śraddhāśraddhā dhṛtiradhṛtirhrirdhīrbhīrityetatsarvaṃ mana eveti śruteḥ icchādīnāṃ manodharmatvādata eva śārīrakaniṣṭhatvenānubhūyamānatvātkathamātmasvabhāvateti vācyaṃ, naiyyāyikādibhiraśarīrasyāpi īśvarasya guṇatvenecchādīnāmaṃgīkṛtatvādghaṭādibhiścāviśeṣaprasaṃgāt | kiṃca jijñāsā bandhamokṣāṇāṃ sāmānādhikaraṇyaniyamānmanasastadviśiṣṭasya vā muktiprasaṃgāt | dvayorapi mithyātvāt | jijñāsā bandhaviśiṣṭasya tadviśeṣyāṃśe mokṣa ityapi vaktuṃ na śakyate, vaiyyadhikaraṇyaprasaṃgādviśiṣṭaviśeṣyayoraikye mithyātvena mokṣākṣamatvāt | tasmātkṛtrimapramāturicchādermanobhivyaktatāpratipādane śrutestātparyamityaṃgīkaraṇīyatvena virodhābhāvāt tasminkāmāḥ samāhitāḥ iti śrutyaṃtare samyakpadasvārasyenātmasvabhāvatāvagamācca || evaṃ sthite tatra cidānaṃdayorna kadācidvikṣobhaḥ akramasvabhāvatvāt, icchādiśaktīnāṃ sakramākramarūpatvena vikṣobhabhāktvāt | naca sakramākramayorvirodha iti vācyaṃ | vadato vyāghātādbhedābhedayorvirodha iti jñātvaiva vaktavyatvena tatjñāne bhedābhedarūpaviṣayayorbhāsamānatvāttasya saviṣayatvādanyathā virodhasphūrtireva na syāt | tasmātprakāśasya pratiyogyabhāvātkiṃcānyonyābhāvanibaṃdhanabhedasyaivābhedena virodhaḥ | na vayaṃ tādṛśabhedaṃ brūmaḥ tasyāsaṃbhavāttatrānyatvasya padārthasvabhāvatānupapatteḥ padārthasya padārthānyatvaprasaṃgāt | naca padārthasya padārthāṃtarānyatvaṃ svabhāva iti noktadoṣa iti vācyaṃ, tasya viśeṣaghaṭitatvenāpraśnaviṣayatvāt, bhedasāmānyalakṣaṇapraviṣṭānyatvasyaiva praśnaviṣayatvāt | kiṃca ghaṭānyatvaṃ paṭasvabhāvaḥ paṭānyatvaṃ ghaṭasvābhava ityasādhāraṇapratītirghaṭapaṭayorbhede siddhe satyevopapadyata iti tasyādyāpyabhilaṣyamāṇasvabhāvatvāt | naca taṃtumayatvamṛṇmayatvādinā tayorbhedasya siddhatvāditi vācyaṃ ghaṭa eva mṛṇmayatvaṃ paṭa eva taṃtumayatvamiti niścayasyāpi ghaṭapaṭabhedasiddhyanaṃtarabhāvitvāt | kiṃca taṃtumayatvamṛṇmayatvayorapi bhedastāvattadavayavabhedāttadavayavabhedastadavayavabhedāditi paramāṇuparyaṃtaparyālocanāyāṃ niraṃśatvādatīṃdriyatvācca | tatra bhedāgrahānmūlakṣayakāryanavasthāprasaṃgāt || nacānyatvaṃ bhedanibaṃdhanaḥ kaścidupādhiḥ bhedasya manorathāyamānatvena ātmāśrayādidoṣaprasaṃgāt, kiṃtu svarṇakuṃḍalanyāyena vibhāgo bheda iti pṛ0 11) brūmaḥ | tatra kuṃḍalaṃ svarṇaṃ na bhavatīti parihartumaśakyatvāt, svarṇārthinaḥ kuṃḍale pravṛttidarśanāt evaṃ svarṇamapi kadāpi kuṃḍalaṃ na bhavati iti parihartumayuktaṃ kuṃḍalayogyatvāt, kuṃḍalākāreṇa svarṇasyaiva bhāsamānatvāt | svarṇakuṃḍalaṃ nāstītyapi vaktuṃ na śakyate svarṇātkuṃḍalaṃ jāyata ityādivyavahāre vartamānakālārūḍhajanikriyāyā nirāśrayatvaprasaṃgājjanmakāle kuṃḍalādivastusthityabhāvāt, asti cedutpattyasaṃbhavātsthitatvāt | yadyutpannavastusthityabhāve'pyutpadyamānavastusthityaṃgīkāre vyaktatayā sthityasaṃbhavāduktadoṣāt avyaktatayā svakāraṇābhedena kuṃḍalādivastusthiteraṃgīkaraṇīyatvāt || evaṃ sthite vibhāganibaṃdhanabhedasyābhedena virodhābhāvāttasmādeva vibhajyamānatvena tadupajīvyatvāt, citrikakauśalyavaśādālekhyaviśeṣe gajavṛṣabhayoḥ pratibhāsa ivāhikuṇḍalamiva brahmaṇaḥ svataṃtratvena śaktiśaktimadrūpatayā bhāsamānatvādata eva tasya cetanatvāt | cetana ityatra pratyayasya bhāvārthakatvena anabhivyaktakriyārūpadhātvarthābhivyaṃjakatvāt, kriyāyāḥ sāśrayatvaniyamena tadāśrayasya karturapi tenaivākṣiptatvāt, tadaṃtargatakriyāyāḥ kṛtirūpatvāt kṛteḥ saviṣayatvāt, citsvabhāvatvena kṛteḥ svaprakāśatvādevaṃvidhasvataṃtraprakāśatāśakteḥ prakāśaikarūpatvāt | ata eva vibhāgasya saṃyogapūrvakatvādbrahmaṇi prapaṃcasaṃbaṃdhābhāvānniṣprapaṃcatvādvaibhāsikabhedo na saṃbhavatīti śaṃkākalaṃkasyānavakāśāt ṅeha nāneti śruteḥ prāpaṃcikabhedanirāsaparatvādvimarśaśakteḥ sakalasāmarasyātmakatvādbhedena sthityasaṃbhavāttasyāḥ samavāyasaṃyogānyatarasaṃbaṃdhasāpekṣatvādguṇaguṇitvādyanaṃgīkāreṇa samavāyasyāsaṃbhavāt, saṃyogasya kriyāpūrvakatvādanyatarobhayakarmajaśca saṃyogastāvadbhinnadeśasthitayorevopapadyata iti brahmabāhyadeśābhāvena tadasaṃbhavādakriyāpūrvakasaṃyogasyāprasiddhatvāt etasmājjāyate prāṇo manaḥ sarveṃdriyāṇi ca || khaṃ vāyurjyotirāpaśca ṣaḍbhirviśvasya dhāriṇī || iti śruteḥ vyomādīnāṃ ca kāryakoṭipraviṣṭatvena paramāṇvākāśasaṃyogadṛṣṭāṃtasyāpi durāpāstatvādanubhayavādisiddhatvāt | sadāparabhāravāhakatvena svātaṃtryabhaṃgaprasaṃgāt, saṃbaṃdhasyaikatvena dviniṣṭhatāsaṃbhavāt niraṃśatvāt | sāṃśatve dravyatvāpattyā saṃbaṃdhitvena tasyāpi saṃbaṃdhāṃtarā- pṛ0 12) nveṣaṇamukhenānavasthāprasaṃgācca | niṣkalamityādiśruteḥ svavyatiriktaprākṛtaheyakalādirāhitye tātparyaṃ | anyathā tvacetanatvaprasaṃgāt sphaṭikādiprakāśavannirvimarśatvāditi sūcitatvāt | tasmādbrahmaṇaścetanatvāt śavai naiva kimetasmādekākī na ramate sa dvitīyamaicchat sa etāvānāsa tatsṛṣṭvā tadevānuprāviśattadanupraviśya saccatyaccābhavat iti śruteḥ lokavattu līlākaivalyaṃ iti brahmasūtrasthiteśca svakrīḍārthaṃ viśvabhavananirmāṇe svātiriktakāraṇāṃtarasāpekṣatve kulālādivatsvātmonmukhyavigalanenānyatraunmukhyādadṛṣṭādiparataṃtratvena anīśvaratvaprasaṃgāt svātiriktakāraṇāṃtaranairapekṣyeṇa īpsitārthapradaciṃtāmaṇyādivadyogī ūrṇanābhavacca mayūrāṃḍarasagatapādapakṣādivarṇavaicitryanyāyena tādātmyena cidvyāptirūpatvena svataṃtratālakṣaṇaspaṃdanarūpatvena cidujvalarūpatvena cidāpyāyanarūpatvena cidrūpatvena ca svātmāmalamukuramaṃḍalatādātmyāpannavimarśaśaktikroḍīkṛtavyomādipaṃca prameyaviśvādicaturātmalakṣaṇajaḍājaḍātmakaṃ viśvaṃ svecchāśaktirūpāpohanaṭaṃkavaśāt śivādidharaṇyaṃtaṣaṭtriṃśattatvātmanā vicitrīkṛtya sṛṣṭisthitisaṃhārabaṃdhamokṣalakṣaṇapaṃcakṛtyamahānāṭyarasikaḥ san krīḍata iti rāddhāṃtaḥ icchāśakteḥ saviṣayatvādviśvasyāṃtasthitiṃ vinā tadunmeṣānupapatteḥ|| nanu viśvasya brahmābhedena sattāṃgīkāreṇa nityatvāttadaṃtargatabaṃdhasyāpi tathātvena tasya tattvajñānādapi nivṛtyasaṃbhavena muktirna syāt, muktasyāpi baṃdhaprasaṃgaḥ prapaṃcasya ṣaḍbhāvavikārabhāktvena brahmaṇastadabhedena nityatvaprasaṃgaśceti cet, ucyate ghaṭo naśyatītyatra nāśakriyā na ghaṭaniṣṭhā bhavitumarhati, svata eva nāśāsaṃbhavātkālakaraṇādhīnatvātkaraṇānāṃ karmeṃdriyasāpekṣatvāt teṣāṃ jñāneṃdriyasāpekṣatvāt, teṣāmaṃtariṃdriyasāpekṣatvāt, tasya kratrimapramātṛsāpekṣatvāt tasya deśakālādiparataṃtratvena svātaṃtryeṇa vinā na saṃbhavatīti tasyāstannirūpitatvena tanniṣṭhatāyā akāmenāpyaṃgīkaraṇīyatvena kartṛmaheśvarasvabhāvatvāddarśitadiśā kāryasya kuṃḍalādeḥ svarṇādikāraṇātmanā sthiteraṃgīkaraṇīyatvena kāryasya kāryanāśasya kāraṇātmanā sthitirūpatvāt na vikāritvādidoṣaprasaktiḥ dugdhādau pariṇamanakriyāyāḥ kālakaraṇakartṛsāpekṣatvena dṛṣṭatayā kartṛsvabhāvatvāt guṇadoṣayorapi svātmaikarūpatvāta kiṃ ca pṛ0 13) loke pariṇāmivastuṣu na sarvatra sarvātmanā svadoṣaparityāgaḥ svarṇādipariṇāmidravyasya kuṇḍalākāreṇa pariṇatau svarṇādirūpatāparityāgasyānubhūyamānatvāt ito'pi svataṃtrabhūtavastupariṇamanasya kūrmāṃgabhaṃgīnyāyena vikāraleśasyāpyasaṃbhavāt kriyā hi karmaṇyeva viśrāmyennatu kartariti nyāyāt nāpi mokṣaprasaṃgaśca || avyaktādīni bhūtāni vyaktamadhyāni bhārata || avyaktanidhanānyeva kā tatra parivedanā || iti bhagavadukteḥ bhogāpavargalakṣaṇapūrvāparakoṭyoḥ viśvasya cidānaṃdaikarasatvena svasvarūpatayā pratibandhakatvābhāvāt icchādibhūmipraviṣṭaghaṭādivadarthakriyāśūnyatvāt madhyakoṭāveva pratibaṃdhakaṃ arthakriyāviśiṣṭatvāt || mātṛmeyamiti sādhanātmikā tvatkṛtonmiṣati yā vikalpadhīḥ || tatsvarūpamakalaṃkitaṃ tayā tasya devi viduṣo na muktatā || iti cidgaganacaṃdrikāyāṃ kālidāsokteśca īśvarecchāyā eva niyāmakatvānmuktasya na punarbaṃdhaprasaktiriti na kadācidanupapattiriti śaktipātapavitritahṛdayairvidvadbhirvimarśanīyam || evaṃ sthite brahmamīmāṃsāyāṃ bhagavatā bādarāyaṇena prathamasūtre śadeva somyedamagra āsīt ekamevādvitīyaṃ brahma tadaikṣata bahusyāṃ prajāyeyeti śruteḥ īkṣadarśanāṃkanayoriti dhātugatyā īkṣaṇalakṣaṇadarśanasvabhāvatvena jaḍavilakṣaṇatayā bṛhatvāt bahusyāmiti bahubhavanakriyāmarśanarūpatvena darśanasvabhāvajīvavilakṣaṇānyanirapekṣaṇakartṛtālakṣaṇānaṃdaparibṛ. mhitatvācca | jñānakriyāsvataṃtraṃ brahma jijñāsyatvenoddiṣṭamiti samanaṃtarasūtroktatadasādhāraṇajagajjanmādilakṣaṇamapyupapadyate | tathāhi || athāto brahmajijñāsā || atra ātmā vā re draṣṭavyaḥ śrotavyo maṃtavyo nidhidhyāsitavya iti viṣayavākyaṃ, śāstramanāraṃbhaṇīyamāraṃbhaṇīyamiti saṃdehaḥ ato'smin loke vede ca prathitaḥ puruṣottama iti bhagavataiva gītatvāt | atra lokaprasiddhirnānumānena pāmarādīnāṃ vyāptyādijñānaśūnyatvāt | kiṃtvahamityābālaviditatvena vede'pi ahaṃ brahmāsmi satyaṃ jñānamanaṃtaṃ brahma ahamasmi prathamajā ṛtasya pūrvaṃ devebhyo amṛtasya nābhiḥ ityādiśruteḥ maheśvarasya prasiddhatvādasaṃdigdhatayā vi- pṛ0 14) cāraviṣayābhāvāt jīvāśritāvidyāyā api brahmaikarūpatvena nivṛtyasaṃbhavāt, brahmabāhyapadārthāṃtarābhāvāt, janyānaṃdāvāpteranityatvena heyatvāt, nityānaṃdasyānavāptavyatvāt nityaprāptatvāt tasmātprayojanābhāvācca śāstramanāraṃbhaṇīyamiti pūrvaḥ pakṣaḥ|| satyaṃ, brahma tāvadubhayatrāpyahamiti prasiddhameva tathāpīha loke avaidikeṣu vivekino vijñānavādino hi; kṣaṇikajñānasaṃtānāpekṣayā nityaḥ kaścidbuddhimān tadbuddhiprerakaḥ kaścidīśvaraśca nāstyaiveti vadaṃti | tayorbuddhibhinnatve sati buddhibāhyatayā tatsatve mānābhāvāt | yadi mānamasti tasya buddhyaṃtargatatvena ghaṭādibhāvavadbuddhitulyatāyā anivāryatvāditi | evaṃ vaidikeṣvapi kāpilāstu ajāmityādi śruteḥ pradhānasya viśvakāraṇatvaśravaṇāt puruṣapradhānātirekeṇa kaścidīśvaro nāstīti vadaṃti | jaiminīyāstu sukhalakṣaṇasvargaṃ prati jyotiṣṭomādikarmaiva vidhīyate tajjanyayajamānaniṣṭhāpūrvavaśādeva tatsādhanībhūtapadārthotpattisaṃbhavāt vedāṃtāḥ kartṛdevatā dravyaparā anuṣṭhānopayogitvena sārthakyāt, karmaśeṣā eva na brahmaparā iti vadaṃti | tasmādeva vidhavādibhirvede'pi vipratipannatvāt | evaṃvidhavaidikāvaidikapraviṣṭapāṣaṃḍamatanirākaraṇadvārā vakṣyamāṇaśaktivikāsalakṣaṇamokṣāvāptaye śāstramāraṃbhaṇīyamiti siddhāṃtaḥ || evaṃ cāsya sūtrasyāyamarthaḥ atha anekajanmārjitaśivapūjādisatkarmamahimnā saṃprāptaśamadamādisādhanasaṃpannasyādhikāriṇaḥ mokṣaviṣayakātyatkaṭecchāśaktyāvirbhāvānaṃtaraṃ, ataḥ athāto dharmajijñāsetyādisvavyatiriktadevatopāsanālakṣaṇayāgayogādikarmaṇāṃ eṣa karmacito lokaḥ kṣīyata ityādiśruteḥ anityatvena heyatvāt karmaṇo jaḍatvenāpūrvotpādanodyamaśūnyatvāt, devatāyāśca śabdamayatvena jaḍatvāt, tata eva phalasādhanayorgaganakusumāyamānatvāt, anenaiva nyāyena pradhānakāraṇatāvādikāpilamatasyāpi pratyākhyātatvāt, vedāṃtānāṃ bhinnaprakaraṇapaṭhitatvena tātparyaniścayahetukaliṃgaṣaṭkena brahmaparatvāt, etadaṃgīkṛtātmatattvasya nānātvena parasparavyāvṛttarūpatvāt, ata eva svaviṣayasvarūpamātraniṣṭhatvāt paraviṣayaparasvarūpeṣvaṃdhabadhiraprāyatvāt, caitro maitrādbhinnaḥ caitraḥ sukhī maitro duḥkhīti parasparabhedānusaṃdhānaṃ, bheditānāṃ caitrādiprakāśānāṃ, caitramahaṃ jānāmi maitramahaṃ jānāmītyekasaṃvillagnatvenāṃta- pṛ0 15) bhinnakālaniṣṭhatvena parasparasaṃgatiśūnyatvāt | ata evoktarītyā svaviṣayasvamātraniṣṭhatvāt paraviṣayaparasvarūpeṣvaṃdhabadhiraprāyatvāt, nīlaṃ pītādbhinnaṃ pītaṃ nīlādbhinnaṃ nīlamahaṃ jānāmi yo'haṃ bālye pitarāvanvabhūvaṃ sa evāhamidānīṃ pranaṣṭāvanubhavāmītyahamityekasaṃvillagnatvena, bāhyābhyaṃtarānusaṃdhānānupapatteḥ ubhayakṣaṇagrāhakasaṃvidaṃtarābhāvāt suptyādau hānādānalakṣaṇaprāṇavāyuparispaṃdasya vidyamānatvena tasyakartṛpurassaratvāt, kartṛjñānapuraḥsaratvāt sukhamahamasvāpsamityutthitasya sukhasmṛteḥ saṃskāradvārānubhavānubhavitṛmūlatvāt, anubhavituḥ svataṃtrasvaprakāśatvāt | na kiṃcidavediṣamiti śūnyaprakāśasyāpi vidyamānatvāt, viśeṣaṇavimuktāhamātmanaḥ svaprakāśatāṃśasyāprākaṭyena sthiteraṃgīkaraṇīyatayā loke cidādikriyāṇāṃ darśitadiśā parapramātṛviśrāṃtimaṃtareṇāsaṃbhavācca | proktanyāyena svātmatādātmyāpannasvavimarśakroḍīkṛtānekabhāvābhāvamaṃḍalo jñānasmṛtyapohanādibahuvidhaśaktīnāmekasaṃghaṭṭaḥ anubhavitṛsmartṛvikalpayitṛpratyabhijñātṛrūpaḥ śuddhānubhavānusaṃdhānātmapūrṇāhaṃsphuraṇasvarūpasvataṃtrasvaprakāśa maheśvaroṃ'gīkaraṇīya iti hetoḥ tādṛ"nmaheśvarecchāśaktiniyamitatvena puruṣatattvaniṣṭhāvidyātattvasya svakāraṇībhūtasarvajñatāśaktisāmarasyasthitirūpanivṛttidvārā svātmaśivatālakṣaṇaṃ phalamuddiśya brahma svataṃtrasvaprakāśatālakṣaṇākhaṃḍāmarśaparibṛṃhitaṃ | tasya jijñāsā; anena padena vicāro lakṣyate, kartavya iti śiṣyate | svātmābhedena parāmarśaḥ kartavya ityarthaḥ parābhimatabhedasya nirākṛtavāt | asmin sūtre ataḥśabdena vakṣyamāṇasamanvayāvirodhaphalādhyāyārthaḥ sarvopi saṃkṣiptaḥ || athaśabdena sādhanādhyāyārthaḥ saṃgṛhītaḥ brahmaśabdena jaḍajīvavilakṣaṇasvaprakāśasvataṃtratāśaktisvabhāvatvaṃ tātparyaviṣayīkṛtamiti sūkṣmadṛśā'nusaṃdheyaṃ | evametatsūtrārthaparāmarśanamātreṇātyuttamādhikārī kṛtakṛtyo bhavatīti nūnaṃ | evamuddiṣṭasya brahmaṇaḥ kiṃ lakṣaṇaṃ, tena vinā vastusvarūpāvadhāraṇāsaṃbhavādityāśaṃkyāha || janmādyasya yataḥ asya idamityaṃgulinirdeśya- pṛ0 16) tvena pratīyamānasya ghaṭacaitrādyupalakṣitacarācaraprapaṃcasya janmādi janma utpattiḥ ādiśabdāt sthitisaṃhārabaṃdhamokṣā lakṣyaṃte, te yataḥ yasmādbhavaṃti tadbrahmeti śeṣaḥ evaṃca sṛṣṭisthitisaṃhāratirodhānānugrahākhyapaṃcakṛtyakaraṇamahāpāṃḍityaṃ brahmaṇo asādhāraṇaṃ lakṣaṇamiti tātparyaṃ | atra yato vā imāni bhūtāni jāyaṃte yena jātāni jīvaṃti yatpratyayaṃtyabhisaṃviśaṃti tadvijijñāsasva tadbrahmeti-śatyaṃ jñānamanaṃtaṃ brahmeti dvayaṃ viṣayavākyaṃ yatprayaṃti mriyamāṇāni ityarthaḥ abhisaṃviśaṃti tadbrahmaṇi praviśya tādātmyaṃ bhajaṃta ityarthaḥ idaṃ lakṣaṇaṃ na yujyate yujyate veti saṃdehaḥ janmāderviśvaniṣṭhatvena brahmasaṃbaṃdhābhāvāt saccidānaṃdānāṃ loke bhinnārthakatvenānubhūyamānatvāt dhātubhedācca akhaṃḍabrahmasvabhāvatvāsaṃbhavādetallakṣaṇadvayamapi na yujyata iti pūrvaḥ pakṣaḥ|| atrocyate, ghaṭādeḥ svata evotpattivināśāsaṃbhavāt kālakaraṇasāpekṣatayā anubhūyamānatvāt, karaṇādīnāṃ karmeṃdriyādidvārā parimitapramātṛsāpekṣatvāt, tasya deśakālādyadhīnatvena svataṃtreṇa vinā na saṃbhavatīti brahmanirūpitatvenaiva jaganniṣṭhatvāt, ata eva brahmasaṃbaṃdhasadbhāvāt loke saccidānaṃdānāṃ bhinnārthakatve'pi teṣāṃ brahmaṇyekarūpatvāt | na caikenaiva padena nirvāhātkimiti tridhā nirdeśaḥ kṛtaḥ lakṣaṇavākye paryāyapadaprayogasya vaiyyarthyāditi vācyaṃ | khapuṣpādyasatpadārthavailakṣaṇyadyotanāya satpadaṃ, jaḍasyāpi sadrūpatvena tatrātivyāptinivāraṇāya citpadaṃ, jīvasya saccidrūpatvena tatrātivyāptinivāraṇāyānaṃdapadaṃ, paṭhitamiti vimarśanīyatvāt | cidasītyaṃgīkaraṇīyatvena saccidorekarūpatvāt cideva naṃdatītyānaṃdasyāpi tadekarūpatvāt lakṣaṇadvayamapyupapannameveti rāddhāṃtaḥ|| atra janmādilakṣaṇe sṛṣṭikartṛtvaṃ caturmukhasādhāraṇaṃ, sṛṣṭisthitikartṛtvaṃ viṣṇusādhāraṇaṃ caturmukhajanakatvāt, sṛṣṭisthitisaṃhārakartṛtvaṃ rudrasādhāraṇaṃ tasya tadubhayajanakatvāt, dhātāca ma iṃdraśca me viṣṇuśca ma iṃdraśca ma iti śruteḥ sṛṣṭisthitisaṃhāratirodhānakartṛtvaṃ īśvarasādhāraṇaṃ trimūrtīnāṃ tanniyamyatvāt, sṛṣṭisthitisaṃhāratirodhānānugrahakartṛtvaṃ sadāśivasādhāraṇaṃ brahmādhipatirbrahmaṇo'dhipatiriti śrutatvena caturṇāmapi tanniyamyatvāt | ataḥ paṃcakṛtyakaraṇamahāpāṃḍityaṃ lakṣaṇamityuktaṃ | pṛ0 17) ātmā vā ākāśa ityādiśruteḥ brahmaṇaḥ sakāśādākāśasya tadabhimānapuruṣasya cotpatteḥ ākāśābhimāninaḥ sadāśivasyāpi sṛjyakoṭiniviṣṭatvena paraśivaniyamyatvāt, paṃcakṛtyakaraṇamahāpāṃḍityāvabhāvāt tathā viśeṣitaṃ jaḍasya jīvasya ca viśvakartṛtāsaṃbhavāt sūtrānuktamapi saccidānaṃdākhyasvarūpalakṣaṇaṃ tātparyaviṣayīkṛtaṃ || athavā janma ādyasya yataḥ iti vicchedaḥ evaṃ sthiteḥ śatyaṃ jñānamanaṃtaṃ brahma ṅārāyaṇaparaṃ brahma ṛtaṃ satyaṃ paraṃ brahma puruṣaṃ kṛṣṇapiṃgalam | ūrdhvaretaṃ virūpākṣam iti śruteḥ bahūnāṃ brahmaṇāṃ prāptatvāt, jijñāsyatvenoddiṣṭaṃ brahma kiṃ rūpamityākāṃkṣāyāṃ, ādyasya brahmādisthāvarāṃtaprapaṃcotpatteḥ pūrvamutpannasya nārāyaṇasya janma utpattiḥ yataḥ yasmādbhavati, tadbrahmeti śeṣaḥ atra eko ha vai nārāyaṇa āsīt ityetadviṣayavākyaṃ lakṣaṇamidamanupapannamupapannaṃ veti saṃdehaḥ, mahopaniṣadi sargādyasamaye etadvākyānaṃtaraṃ ṅa brahmā neśāna iti śrutatvena tayorniṣedhaśravaṇāt | atha tasmādeva tayorutpattiśravaṇāt etadvyatirekeṇa tajjanakasya kasyacidaśravaṇāt śadeva somyedamagra āsīt ityādibrahmapratipādakavākyavat sṛṣṭeḥ prāk nārāyaṇasyaikasyaiva sthitiśravaṇāt, ataḥ sarvatra vedāṃteṣu sat brahmādirūpeṇa sāmānyataḥ śrūyamāṇaṃ viśvakāraṇaṃ vastu nārāyaṇa evetyavagamyate yadagnīṣomīyaṃ paśumālabheta ityatra gavādisaṃdehe chāgo vā maṃtravarṇāditi pūrvataṃtraprasiddhachāgapaśunyāyāt, atraivāgre patyurasāmaṃjasyāt ityadhikaraṇe sūtrakṛtaiva śivasya viśvakāraṇatvaṃ na saṃbhavatīti nirākriyamāṇatvāt | nārāyaṇasya kāraṇaṃ brahmetyetallakṣaṇaṃ hyanupapannaṃ, pratyuta rudrādiprapaṃcotpatteḥ pūrvamutpannatvena brahmaṇa evādyatvāt ṅārāyaṇādbrahmā jāyate ṅārāyaṇādrudro jāyate iti śrutyanaṃtarapaṭhitatvācca tasmādādyasya brahmaṇaḥ janma yato bhavati tadbrahmetyetallakṣaṇaṃ nārāyaṇasyaivopapadyata iti prāpte brūmaḥ atharvaśikhāyāṃ kiṃ taddhyānaṃ ko vā dhyātā kaściddhyeya ityupakramaprāptapraśnānurodhena dhyānaṃ viṣṇuḥ dhyātā rudraḥ dhyāyīteśānaṃ pradhyāyitavya iti śrutatvena mahopaniṣatprasiddhanārāyaṇatatraniṣedhakoṭipraviṣṭharudrayoratra taratamabhāvena dhyānadhyātṛrūpatvamuktvānaṃtaramīśānasya dhyeyatvena vihitatvāt nārāyaṇāpekṣayā kaścinmaheśāno'stīti avagamyate nanvīśānasya pṛ0 18) niṣedhaśravaṇāt, kathaṃ tasya dhyeyatvaṃ saṃbhavatīti śaṃkāṃ nirākartuṃ samanaṃtaraṃ śarvamidaṃ brahmaviṣṇurudreṃdrāste saṃprasūyaṃte sarvāṇi ceṃdriyāṇi saha bhūtairna kāraṇaṃ kāraṇaṃ tu dhyeya iti śrūyate atra tatpadasvārasyāt mahopaniṣatpaṭhitabrahmaviṣṇurudrāṇāṃ itiparamaiśvarya iti dhātoḥ iṃdrapadopalakṣitānyatraprasiddhatatpuruṣeśānāparaparyāyeśvarasadāśivayo śca jaḍībhūtabhūteṃdriyādibhiḥ saha saṃprasūtipravacanena, tattulyapārataṃtrītyutpattyavagamāt, na kāraṇamityanenaitatkāraṇībhūteśāno na saṃprasūyata iti sūcitaṃ | kāraṇaṃ tu, dhyeya ityatra tu śabdasvārasyāt kāryakoṭipraviṣṭeśānastha niṣedhaśravaṇāt, kāraṇībhūta īśāno dhyeya iti sūcitaṃ atra kāraṇaṃ tu dhyeya ityuktatvena tatkāraṇamanyadeva syāditi śaṃkāṃ nirākartuṃ, kāraṇānāṃ uktalakṣaṇasṛṣṭyādikṛtyeṣu niyamitānāṃ brahmādipaṃcabrahmaṇāṃ dhātā rakṣaka ityarthaḥ, dhyātā svātmārāmaḥ ādisaṃkalpakarteti vā, sarvaiśvaryasaṃpannaḥ sarveśvaraśca atra cakārasvārasyāt sarveśvaraśabdavācya ityarthaḥ śhaṃbhurākāśamadhye śiva eko dhyeyaḥ śivaṃkaraḥ mokṣaprada ityarthaḥ dhyānaphalaṃ coktaṃ, sarvamanyatparityajya jananamaraṇaparipīḍitaṃ devatāṃtaraṃ parityajyetyarthaḥ, samāptātharvaśikhā itotiriktatvena vaktavyāṃśo nāstītyabhiprāyeṇa svasamāptiṃ svayamevāha iti sphuṭataraṃ śrūyamāṇatvāt | mahopaniṣatprasiddhabrahmādiviśvakāraṇībhūtanārāyaṇasyāpi kāraṇībhūtaḥ śiva eko dhyeya ityavagamāt eko ha vai nārāyaṇa āsīditi atra āsītpadasya rohito lohitādāsīt śakterāsītparāśaraḥ itivadutpattisattāparatāvaśyaṃbhāvena lakṣaṇamupapannameva nanu atra nārāyaṇasyotpattiḥ dhyātṛrudrāpekṣayā varatvaṃ ca na śrūyate kiṃtu viṣṇoreva nārāyaṇasyānaṃtāvatārasadbhāvāt viṣṇoḥ tadavatāramūrtitvāt athavā ādityānāmahaṃ viṣṇuḥ iti gītitatvena tadaṃśībhūtatvāt tatparatopapatteḥ atratyeśānādiśabdānāṃ lakṣaṇayā nārāyaṇaparatvameva yuktamiti cenna, mukhyabrahmarudramadhyapaṭhitaviṣṇuśabdasyāvatārāṃśaparatvāsaṃbhavāt yatprāyaḥ śrūyate yacca tattādṛgavagamyata iti pūrvataṃtravārtikanyāyāt anyathāpi kiṃkāraṇaṃ brahmeti saṃdihyamānānāṃ brahmavādināṃ svato nirṇetumaśakyatvāt devīṃ dhyāyatāṃ tatprasādena jagatkāraṇībhūtaṃ brahma śiva eva iti nirṇīte śvetāśvatare yadā pṛ0 19) tamastanna divā na rātrirna sanna cāsacchiva eva kevalaḥ | ajāta ityeva kaścidbhīruḥ prapadyate rudra yatte dakṣiṇaṃ mukhaṃ tena māṃ pāhi nityaṃ yadā carmavadākāśaṃ veṣṭayiṣyaṃti mānavāḥ | tadā śivamavijñāya duḥkhaśāṃtirbhaviṣyati iti śrutatvena sṛṣṭeḥ pūrvaṃ viśvopādānakāraṇībhūtaprakṛtyaparaparyāyājñānalakṣaṇatamomātrāvaśi ṣṭakāle divārātrilakṣaṇasadasadvibhāgaśūnyatvaṃ pratipādya sadāśivasyaiva sthitiśravaṇena dvitīyasyāvasthānāsaṃbhavāt, tasyājātatvaśravaṇāt, jananamaraṇaparipīḍitamumukṣujanaprārthanīyatvaśravaṇāt, śivajñānasyaiva mokṣapradatvaśravaṇācca | tasyotpattivināśāsaṃbhavāt śahasrāṇi sahasraśo ye rudrā adhibhūmyāṃ ityādiśruteḥ tadavatārarūpānaṃtarudramūrtistadbhāvāt tatratyotpattivināśāvapi dikpālāṃtargateśānaparāveva syātām, tathāca sṛṣṭeḥ prāk dvayorapyavasthānāsaṃbhavāt viṣṇuritthā paramasya vidvān yato brahmannābhipāti trayaṃ iti śrutyaṃtare bṛhaditi viśeṣaṇasāmarthyāt mahāviṣṇorevotpattimatvaṃ paramātmavetṛtvamaśuddhamiśravilakṣaṇaśuddhaprapaṃcarūpaparaśivarājadhā nīparipālakatvaṃ ca pratīyata iti tatratyāsītpadasya darśitadiśā utpattisattāparatāvaśyaṃbhāvena śivaśaṃbhvādyanekaśabdalakṣaṇaṃ kalpanāyāḥ aprāmāṇikatvāt kaivalyaśrutau umāsahāyaṃ parameśvaraṃ prabhuṃ trilocanaṃ nīlakaṇṭhaṃ praśāṃtaṃ || dhyātvā munirgacchati bhūtayoniṃ samastasākṣiṃ tamasaḥ parastāt | sa brahmā sa śivaḥ seṃdraḥ so'kṣaraḥ paramaḥ svarāṭ | sa eva viṣṇuḥ sa prāṇaḥ sa kālo'gniḥ sa caṃdramāḥ || yadbhūtaṃ yacca bhavyam ityuktvā jñātvā taṃ mṛtyumatyeti nānyaḥ paṃthā vimuktaye || iti śrutatvena itaraniṣedhapuraḥsaraṃ mumukṣūpāsyasya parameśvarasyomāsahāyatvatrilocanatvanīlakaṇṭhatvaśravaṇāt eṣāṃ śivaikāṃśikatvena kathaṃcidapi nārāyaṇaparatvāsaṃbhavācca || evaṃ sthite patyurasāmaṃjasyāt ityadhikaraṇe tāṃtrikapāśupatāṃgīkṛtakevalaviśvanimittakāraṇatayā nirākṛtatvāt | ata eva śabdādeva pramita ityadhikaraṇe aṃguṣṭhamātraḥ puruṣo madhya ātmani tiṣṭhati īśāno bhūtabhavyasya sa evādyaḥ sa uśvaḥ iti kaṭhavallīmaṃtrasya parichinnaparimāṇatvaliṃgena jīvaparatvamāśaṃkya bhūtabhavyasyetyupapade satyapyevakāreṇa pṛ0 20) bhūtabhavyapadārtheśitṛtvaliṃgaṃ parityajya śabdāditīśānaśabdādbrahmaparatāyā aṃgīkṛtatvāt || kiṃca atra carācaragrahaṇāt ityadhikaraṇe kaṭhavallīdvitīyavalyāṃ yasya brahmakṣatra ubhe bhavata odanaḥ mṛtyuryasyaupasecanaṃ ka ityāveda sa iti śrutasya maṃtrasya jīvāgniparatvamāśaṃkya dvayorapi tayormṛtyugrastatvāt mṛtyuryasyopasecanamityuktatvena carācaraprapaṃcasaṃhārakartṛtvāvagamāt maṃtro'yamīśvarapara iti nirṇītatvena jagatsaṃhārakatvamīśvaralakṣaṇamityaṃgī kṛ tatvāt saṃhārakartā śiva iti prasiddhatvāt evaṃ ca patyuḥ paśupateḥ pāśupatāṃgīkṛtakevalaviśvanimittakāraṇatvaṃ na saṃbhavati asāmaṃjasyāt svavyatiriktamṛdādyupādānakāraṇāṃtarasāpekṣakulālādivat svātmaunmukhyavigalanenānyatraunmukhyāt adṛṣṭādiparataṃtratāpattyā anīśvaratvaprasaṃgāditi na kopi virodhaḥ|| viśvādhiko rudro maharṣiriti śruterviśvādhikatvaśravaṇāt ekaikamaṃtradraṣṭṝṣyapekṣayā sakalamaṃtradraṣṭṛtvena maharṣitvāt ata eva brāhmaṇottamatvādbrāhmaṇairupāsanīyaḥ pādodakaprasādāvapi svīkaraṇīyau bhṛgvādiśāpasya viśvāṃtargataguṇirudratīrthaprasādaviṣayatvāt bhṛgvādestāvatparyaṃtabhāvanāsaṃbhavāt muktasthānatvāt ṅa sa punarāvartata iti śruteḥ alaṃ prāsaṃgikena viśvaṃ nārāyaṇaṃ harimiti śruteḥ viśvaṃ viṣṇurvaṣaṭkāra iti tannāmasahasrasmṛteśca viṣṇorviśvāṃtargatatvāt patiṃ viśvasyeti viśvapatitvaśruteḥ tasya svakāryarūpaviśvāpekṣayeti na virodhaḥ nārāyaṇaparaṃbrahmetyatra nārāyaṇātparaṃ brahmetyupapannatvāt anyatra nārāyaṇaḥ paraṃ brahmeti pāṭhe śupāṃsulugiti sūtreṇa paṃcamyāḥ svādeśasya kalpanīyatvāt sarvaṃ samaṃjasaṃ evaṃ sthite bhāviprapaṃcakāraṇībhūtanārāyaṇāvirbhāvabhittibhūtaṃ paraśivākhyaṃ vastu jagadudayādibījaṃ brahmeti rāddhāṃtaḥ || nanu etāvatārthaprapaṃcakāraṇaṃ brahmetyuktaṃ bhavati śabdaprapaṃcakāraṇatvenoktaṃ tatkiṃ brahmavannityaṃ vetyāśaṃkyāha śāstrayonitvāt asya mahato'nubhūtasya niśvasitametat ṛgvedo yajurvedaḥ sāmavedo'tharvāṃgirasa iti viṣayavākyaṃ atra brahma vedaṃ na karoti karotīti saṃdehaḥ na karoti | vedasya nityatvāt, ṅīrūpanityayā vāceti śrūyamāṇatvāt viṣayavākye'pi vedasya brahmaṇo'prayatnasiddhaniśvasitarūpatāvagamāt anādinidhanā pṛ0 21) nityā vāgutsṛṣṭā svayaṃbhuvā || ādau vedamayīṃ vidyāṃ yataḥ sarvāḥ pravattayaḥ | iti smṛteśceti pūrvaḥ pakṣaḥ atrābhidhīyate brahma vedasya kartṛ bhavitumarhati niśvasitanyāyenāprayatnotpattyavagamāt tasmādyajñātsarvahutaḥ ṛcaḥ sāmāni jajñire iti sarvayajñahūyamānāt yajñaśabdavācyānmaheśvarādatispaṣṭameva vedotpattiśravaṇācca niśvasitanyāyenāprayatnotpattyaiva arthaṃ budhvā viracitaiḥ kālidāsaprabhṛtivākyaiḥ vailakṣaṇyādapauruṣeyatvaṃ pratisargaṃ pūrvasāmyenotpatteḥ pravāharūpeṇa nityatvāsaṃbhavāditi rāddhāṃtaḥ atra sarvaviśvavyavasthāprakāśakavedakartṛtvanirūpaṇena brahmaṇaḥ sarvajñatvamuktaṃ bhavati | pūrvasūtre sarvakartṛtvaṃ nirūpitamiti maṃtavyaṃ | athavā, nanvevaṃvidhalakṣaṇopalakṣite brahmaṇi kiṃ pramāṇamityākāṃkṣāyāmāha śāstrayonitvāt tatra [tatrakaṃ tvaupaniṣadaṃ iti pāṭhāntaram] taṃ caupaniṣadaṃ puruṣaṃ sṛjāmīti viṣayavākyaṃ | atra brahmaṇaḥ pratyakṣādipramāṇagamyatvamasti vā naveti saṃdehaḥ ghaṭādivatsiddhavastutvānmānāṃtaragamyatvamastīti pūrvaḥ pakṣaḥ rūparasādyabhāvāt, neṃdriyayogyatā, nāpyaṃtaḥkaraṇagocaratvaṃ sukhaduḥkhādivajjaḍatvaprasaṃgāt, na ca sukhāderaṃtaḥkaraṇā- vacchinnacaitanyavedyatvājjaḍatvaṃ yuktaṃ, ātmanastvaṃtaḥkaraṇamātragocaratvānna jaḍatvamiti vācyaṃ, aṃtaḥkaraṇasya jaḍatvena vedakatvaṃ na saṃbhavatītyabhiprāyeṇaiva kila ghaṭasukhāderaṃtaḥkaraṇavṛttyavacchinnacaitanyavedyatvamaṃgīkṛtaṃ | evaṃ prakṛtepyaṃtaḥkaraṇasya jaḍatvena vedakatvāsaṃbhavāt, tadvṛttyavacchinnacaitanyavedyatāyā aṃgīkaraṇīyatvena jaḍatāpatteranivāryatvāt, nāpyanumānaṃ tasya pratyakṣamūlatvenātiparicchinnamaheśvaraprakāśanāpāṭavatvāt | anyathā tasya tadaṃtargatatayā bhāsamānatvena paricchinnatvaprasaṃgāt, tadanaṃtargatatve sati tatprakāśyatvāsaṃbhavāt tadbāhyatvāt | nanu śabdaliṃgenākāśānumānavatsaṃbhavatīti vācyaṃ, ākāśasyāpi janyatvena paricchinnatvāt tasya tatkarmatvena tadekarūpatvāt, anyathā jalādivat tattaddharmatvaprasaṃgāt, anumitirviśiṣṭaniṣṭhatvena brahmasvabhāvatvāsaṃbhavāt | evaṃ śābdajñānaviṣayatvamapi na saṃbhavati paricchinnatvāt svātiriktasaṃvidaṃtaravedyatvena svavimarśarūpatāvagamāt | ataḥ svānatiriktatvāt anadhigatayatkiṃcittanmāhātmyaprakāśanakṣamatvāt, vedaikapramāṇagamyamahadaiśvaryaṃ brahmeti rāddhāṃtaḥ || evaṃca śāstrasya vedāgamādiśabdapramāṇasya yonitvāt tanmāhātmyaprakāśanakṣamatvāt iti sūtrārthaḥ | nanu vedāṃtānāṃ brahmaparatvaṃ na saṃbhavati | anuṣṭhānopayogitvena niṣprayojanatvāt kartṛdevatāsādhanaparatve anuṣṭhānopayogitvena sārthakyāt, karmaśeṣa eva śabdārthalakṣaṇaprapaṃcasya cidvijātīyatvena brahmopādānakatvāsaṃbhavāduktalakṣaṇaṃ ca na saṃbhavatītyāśaṃkyāha, tattu samanvayāt tattu samanvayāditi vicchedaḥ tuśabdaḥ pūrvapakṣanirāsārthaḥ atra sadeva sommedamagra āsīdityārabhya sa ātmā tattvamasi śvetaketo ityaṃtaṃ viṣayavākyaṃ vedāṃtāḥ karmaparā vā brahmaparā veti saṃdehaḥ yajamānasya duḥkhāṃtarāyādyasaṃbhinnasukhalakṣaṇasvargaṃ prati jyotiṣṭomena svargakāmo yajeta ityādivākyaiḥ karmaiva vidhīyate, tajjanyayājamānaniṣṭhāpūrvavaśādeva tatsādhanībhūtapadārthotpattiḥ dehāṃtarakālāṃtarabhāvisvargaśca saṃbhavati | evaṃca vedāṃteṣu jīvapratipādakavākyāni kartṛyajamānaparāṇi, brahmapratipādakavākyāni devatāparāṇi, sṛṣṭipratipādakavākyāni dravyādisādhanaparāṇi, evamaṃgīkāre vedāṃtānāmanuṣṭhānopayogitvena sārthakyaṃ brahmaparatve tadabhāvādvaiyyarthyaṃ syāt | ataḥ kartṛdevatāsādhanaparatvena karmaśeṣā eva na brahmaparā iti prāpte brūmaḥ || vedāṃtānāṃ bhinnaprakaraṇapaṭhitatvena karmaśeṣatvaṃ na saṃbhavati upakramopasaṃhārāvabhyāso'pūrvatāphalam | arthavādopapattī ca liṃgaṃ tātparyanirṇaye iti tātparyaniścayahetukaliṃgaṣaṭkena brahmaparatvāt | tathāhi śadeva somyedamagra āsīdityupakramaḥ etadātmyamidaṃ sarvaṃ tatsatyaṃ sa ātmā tattvamasi ityupasaṃhāraḥ anayorbrahmaviṣayatvenaikaṃ liṃgam pṛ0 23) asakṛttattvamasi ityabhyāsaḥ mānāṃtaragamyamahadaiśvaryamapūrvatvaṃ yenāśrutaṃ śrutaṃ bhavati amataṃ matamavijñātaṃ vijñātaṃ ityādyekavijñāne sarvavijñānaṃ phalaṃ | yathā mṛttikāyāṃ jñātāyāṃ ghaṭaśarāvādikaṃ tatkāryatvāttadabhinnamiti vijñātaṃ bhavati, tathaivetyarthaḥ sṛṣṭisthitilayapraveśaniyamasthānāni paṃcārthavādāḥ mṛdādidṛṣṭāṃtā upapattayaḥ etairliṃgairbrahmaparatvāt | nacānuṣṭhānamaṃtareṇa prayojanābhāvaḥ dehādyahaṃtānimajjanadvārā pūrṇāhaṃbhāvonmajjanarūpamahāphalasya saṃbhavāt | nanvevaṃ vedāṃtānāṃ brahmaparatve'pi te brahmaṇyeva na paryavasyaṃti kiṃtu śatyaṃ jñānamanaṃtaṃ brahmeti pārokṣyeṇa brahmatattvaṃ pratipādya paścādaparokṣaṃ vidadhati | evaṃ sati vedāṃtānāṃ śāsanāt śāstratvamupapadyate anadhigatārthagaṃtṛtvāt | kiṃtu śrotavya iti śābdajñānātmakaṃ śravaṇaṃ vidhāyānaṃtaraṃ maṃtavyo nidhidhyāsitavya iti anubhavajñānātmakaṃ vidhīyate | tasmādvedāṃtāḥ pratipattividhāyakā iti cenna, kartumakartumanyathākartumaśakyatvena apuruṣārthatvāt, pratipattividhirna saṃbhavatyeva anuṣṭheyaśāsanādeva śāstratvaṃ nānyatheti niyamo nāsti | siddhavastusādhanenāpi tadupapatteḥ na ca śābdajñānena jñāte paścādanubhavātmakaṃ mananādikaṃ vidhīyata iti vaktuṃ yuktaṃ, daśamastvamasītivat śabdasyaivāparokṣajñānajanakatvena śābdabodhātpuraiva asaṃbhāvanādinivṛttaye kartṛvyāpārarūpamananādervidhānāt, pramāṇānāṃ mohāpasaraṇamātraprayojanatvāt ghaṭo'yamagrataḥ pratyakṣatvādityādau tathānubhūyamānatvāt | atra ghaṭo na kriyate siddhatvāt, na jñāpyate pratyakṣeṇaiva jñāpyamānatvāt, kiṃtvagrakatvasādhanenāgraka iti moho'panīyata iti | evaṃ dhūmaliṃgena vahnimatvasādhanena vahnimatvarūpamoho'pasāryata iti vedāṃtāḥ brahmaṇyeva paryavasitāḥ ata aitadātmyamidaṃ sarvaṃ tatsatyamiti śrutatvena san ghaṭaḥ san paṭa ityādirūpeṇa sarvatra sāmānyādiṣu sattā jaḍe vilakṣaṇasvarūpasattānuvṛttidarśanena satkāryatvāduktalakṣaṇamapyupapatteḥ jaḍasya svataḥsiddhasattānuvṛttyasaṃbhavāt, svataṃtratāpatteḥ parataḥsiddhasattānuvṛttyasaṃbhavaprakārasya darśitatvāt, sacciddhanatvamakāmenāpyaṃgīkaraṇīyamiti karmaṇo jaḍatvenādṛṣṭotpādanodyamaśūnyatvāt, adṛṣṭasyāpi jaḍatvena svargatatsādhanībhūtadravyotpādanodyamaśūnyatvāt | sarvaprapaṃcasattārūpasvatantra svaprakāśabrahmaiva sarvavedāṃtapratipādyamiti siddhāṃtaḥ || evaṃ sati tātparya- pṛ0 24) niścayahetukaliṃgaṣaṭkena vedāṃtānāṃ brahmaṇi samanvayāt tadbrahma uktalakṣaṇapramāṇagamyamahadaiśvaryamiti bhāvaḥ nanu asaṃgo hyayaṃ puruṣa itiśruteḥ brahmaṇo viśvakāraṇatvaṃ na saṃbhavatyeva, kiṃtu vedāṃteṣu kāraṇavākyāni pradhānaparāṇyeva, tathā śrūyamāṇatvādityāśaṃkyāha īkṣaternāśabdaṃ īkṣateḥ na aśabdaṃ iti vicchedaḥ chāṃdogye ṣaṣṭhādhyāye śadeva somyedamagra āsīdekamevādvitīyaṃ brahma iti prastutya tadaikṣata bahusyāṃ prajāyeyeti tattejo'sṛjateti śrūyate | idaṃ viṣayavākyaṃ, atra tacchabdavācyaṃ viśvakāraṇaṃ pradhānaṃ vā brahma veti saṃdehaḥ atra sāṃkhyā vadaṃti tacchabdavācyaṃ sarvajagatkāraṇaṃ pradhānameva ajāmekāṃ lohitaśuklakṛṣṇāṃ bahvīṃ prajā janayaṃtīṃ sarūpāṃ iti śrūyamāṇatvāt tasya satvaguṇayuktatvāt pariṇamanakriyāsvabhāvatvācca jñānakriyāśaktyorapi saṃbhavāt | brahmaṇo nirviśeṣatvena tadasaṃbhavāditi prāpte brūmaḥ tadaikṣatetyatra īkṣitṛtvaśravaṇāt, pradhānasya jaḍatvena tadasaṃbhavāt, tacchabdavācyaṃ cetanaṃ brahmaiva, tasya niḥsaṃgatvaṃ nirguṇatvaṃ ca naiyyāyikāṃgīkṛtasvavyatiriktaguṇasaṃgarāhityāt, svarūpānatiriktajñānakriyayoraṃgīkaraṇīyatvāt | anyathā jaḍatvaprasaṃgāt | iṣṭāpattau puruṣasya prakṛtiprerakatvāsaṃbhavena viśvotpattireva na syāt prakṛterjaḍatvena prerakamaṃtareṇa kāryotpādanākṣamatvāt | na ca teja āpa aikṣaṃta itivadgauṇamīkṣaṇaṃ pradhānasya saṃbhavatīti vācyaṃ haṃtā'hamimāstisro devatā anena jīvenātmanānupraviśya nāmarūpe vyākaravāṇi iti madhye tvastitādyaparityaktanāmarūpavyākartrī viśvakāraṇadevatā svavācakenātmaśabdena cetanajīvaṃ vyupadiśatīti upasaṃhāre śa ātmā tattvamasi śvetaketo iti śiṣyaṃ prati jagatkāraṇatādātmyaṃ guruṇopadiśyata iti gauṇekṣaṇasyāpyasaṃbhavāt | nanvatra jīvenātmanānupraviśya nāmarūpe vyākaravāṇīti śrutatvāt jīvasya viśvakāraṇatāvagamāt | kathaṃ viśvakāraṇatvaṃ brahmāsādhāraṇalakṣaṇaṃ bhavitumarhatīti cet na jīvaśabdasya jñānakriyāsvabhāvacetanaparatvāt jānatā kurvatā bhāvyaṃ jīvatā parayoginā | dṛkkriyāsadasadbhāvau heturaiśvaryajāḍyayoḥ || iti śivadṛṣṭismṛtatvācca jñānakriye vinā prapaṃcasya vyākartumaśakyatvāt | nanvevamapi jñānakriyāsvabhāvatvaṃ jīvasādhāraṇaṃ pṛ0 25) bhavati puruṣatattvameva tacchabdavācyaṃ kiṃ na syāditi cenna | ātmāpyanīśaḥ sukhaduḥkhahetoḥ brahmaviṣṇurudreṃdrāste saṃprasūyaṃta itiśruteḥ brahmādīnāmapi bhūteṃdriyādibhistaulyena parataṃtrotpattiśravaṇena sukhaduḥkhādidūṣitatvena ca viśvakāraṇatvāsaṃbhavāt, kāryakoṭipraviṣṭatvāt tatkāraṇībhūtamaheśvarasya sarvaiśvaryasaṃpannaḥ sarveśvaraśceti sarvaiśvaryaśālitvasarveśvaraśabdavācyatvayoḥ śravaṇāt, prakṛtiniṣṭhasya puruṣasya sa ātmā tattvamasīti mokṣopadeśācca, nātivyāptiḥ| gomayādervṛścikādyutpattidarśanāt, ūrṇanābhidṛṣṭāṃtācca, brahmaṇaḥ svataṃtratvāt na svavyatiriktakāraṇāṃtarasahāyāpekṣā | anyathā kriyāśaktivihīnatve sati brahmaṇaḥ śuktirajatādivadalīkatvamāpatediti svataṃtrasvaprakāśatāśaktiparibṛṃhitaṃ brahmaiva tacchabdavācyamiti rāddhāṃtaḥ || evaṃ ca aśabdaṃ vaktṛtvaśūnyaṃ pradhānaṃ na viśvakāraṇaṃ bhavitumarhati | īkṣateḥ īkṣitṛtvaśravaṇāditi sūtrārthaḥ asminnadhikaraṇe vakṣyamāṇāvirodhādhyāyārthaḥ sarvo'pi saṃgṛhītaḥ | tanniṣṭhasya mokṣopadeśādityutsūtritatvāt phalādhyāyārthaśca samanvayasūtre samanvayādhyāyārthaḥ jijñāsāsūtre sādhanādhyāyārthaḥ sarvo'pi saṃgṛhītaḥ ityuttamādhikāriṇaṃ prati īkṣatyaṃtaiva brahmavidyā | madhyamādhikāriṇaṃ prati paṃcapādikā | adhamādhikāriṇaṃ prati avaśiṣṭaśāstraṃ pravṛttamiti maṃtavyaṃ | atra praṇavārthasārabhūtasakalasādhāraṇasadrūpātmatvajaḍotkṛṣṭatvajīvavila kṣaṇamahadaiśvaryasaṃpannatārūpasaccidānandākhyasvarūpalakṣaṇameva prakaṭīkṛtamiti sūkṣmadṛśā vilokanīyam || agre tadananyatvamāraṃbhaṇaśabdādibhyaḥ|| ātmakṛteḥ pariṇāmāt kṛtsnaprasaktirniravayavatvaśabdakopo vā || ātmani caivaṃ vicitrāśca hi || māyāmātraṃ tu kārtsnenānabhivyaktasvarūpatvāt netaro'nupapatteḥ || ityādisūtraiḥ jaḍājaḍaprapaṃcasya kartṛ maheśvarābhinnatvameva viśeṣataḥ prakaṭīkriyate, atra māyāśabdena māyāṃ tu prakṛtiṃ vidyānmāyinaṃ tu maheśvarama || iti śruteḥ svābhāvikaprakṛtiḥ kathyate sā ca prakṛṣṭākṛtiriti vyutpattyā aghaṭanaghaṭanāpaṭutarā kartṛsvabhāvabhūtā kriyāśaktiḥ kathyate | tasmādiyameva vidyā vidyā na bhavatītyavidyā mithyābhūteti na virodhaḥ tasyāvayavabhūtena vyāptametaccarācaram ityagre śravaṇāt evaṃ bhūtamāyino pṛ0 26) maheśvarasyāvayavabhūtena aṃśāvatārarūpeṇa nārāyaṇena jagatsarvaṃ vyāptamityavagamāt śhrotraṃ ca śrotavyaṃ ca nārāyaṇa ityādiśruteśca sāpekṣayā bhāviviśvopādānakāraṇaṃ nārāyaṇa eveti tasya vimarśāṃśatvamavagaṃtavyam || raso'hamapsu kauṃteya prabhā'smi śaśisūryayoḥ | praṇavaḥ sarvavedeṣu śabdaḥ khe pauruṣaṃ nṛṣu || iti gītatvācca | evaṃsthite brahmaṇaḥ tāvat dṛkkriyāsvabhāvatvena cetanatvāt ataścaitanyamātmeti śivenāpi sūtritatvāt, brahmaśivasūtrayorekārthaviśrāṃtatvena virodhābhāvāt | śāstraikyaṃ vimarśanīyaṃ || atha viśabdenocyate vidyā śivajīvaikyabodhikā || tasyāṃ ramaṃte ye śaivā vīraśaivāḥ prakīrtitāḥ || iti tatsiddhāṃtavacanāt tenāpi virodhābhāvāt tadaikyaṃ vimarśanīyaṃ | tatsiddhāṃtasya liṃgāṃgasāmarasyapratipādakatvāt, tathāhi tadāgameṣu || ghanaliṃgaṃ mahābhāsaṃ saccidānaṃdalakṣaṇaṃ || niṣkalaṃ niṣkriyaṃ śāṃtaṃ svataṃtra svaprakāśi tat || sarveṣāṃ sthānabhūtatvāllayabhūtatvatastathā || tattvānāṃ mahadādīnāṃ sthalamityabhidhīyate || sthāṇau sarvāśraye'naṃte saccidānaṃdarūpiṇi || yasmin brahmaṇi līyeta prapaṃcastatsthalaṃ smṛtam || prāṇaliṃgakam || tṛtīyamiṣṭaliṃgaṃ syādityevaṃ trividhaṃ smṛtam || ekamekaṃ sthalaṃ bhūyo dvividhaṃ dvividhaṃ bhavet || mahāliṃgaṃ prasādākhyaṃ bhāvaliṃgavibhāgajaṃ || prāṇaliṃgājjaṃgamākhyaṃ śivaliṃgaṃ ca bhidyate || guruliṃgaṃ tathācāraliṃgamiṣṭavibhāgataḥ || aṃgasthalaṃ tathā proktamācāryaiḥ sūkṣmadarśibhiḥ || yogāṃgaṃ prathamaṃ proktaṃ bhogāṃgaṃ ca dvitīyakam || tyāgāṃgaṃ ca tṛtīyaṃ syādityevaṃ trividhaṃ smṛtam || yogāṃgamaikyaṃ śaraṇaṃ sthalamityubhayaṃ bhavet || prāṇaliṃgi prasādīti dvayaṃ bhogāṃgamiṣyate || māheśvarasthalaṃ bhaktasthalamityubhayaṃ sthalaṃ || tyāgāṃgaṃ bhavatītyeva procyate tattvadarśibhiḥ || iti ayaṃ bhāvaḥ sakalaprapaṃcasṛṣṭisthitilayabhittisthānabhūtaṃ vastu sthalaśabdenābhidhīyate || tadvastūktalakṣaṇamūlapraṇavaprakāśaikavigrahaṃ paraśivatattvaṃ mānāṃtaranirapekṣabhāsamānatvāt, svaprakāśaṃ kāraṇāṃtaranirapekṣakurvāṇatvāt, pṛ0 27) svataṃtraṃ ata evānyanirapekṣavartamānaṃ ata evākarmakākramasvasaṃvedanalakṣaṇasaccidānaṃdasphuraṇamayaṃ evaṃvidhaparipūrṇāhaṃtātmakaparamaśivasya pūjyapūjakalīlāyāṃ nistaraṃgasamudre taraṃgotpatteḥ prāk laharīva svātmani īṣaccalanamutpadyate | taccalanenānyonyasamarasībhūtasvataṃtrasvaprakāśatāṃśamātre tūttamakartṛtāmātraviyogāt, nyūnādhikabhāvena sa dvidhā bhidyate | tatrādhikabhāvāpannasvaprakāśatāyāṃ pratisphuraṇagatyā praviṣṭamūlapraṇavarūpaśivacaitanyameva liṃgatattvaṃ bhavati | nyūnībhūtasvaprakāśatāyāṃ tathaiva praviṣṭaśivacaitanyamevāṃgatattvaṃ bhavati | tatra liṃgatattvaṃ tu krameṇa saccidānaṃdapratiphalanakalanātmakabhāvaliṃgamiti, prāṇaliṃgamiti, iṣṭaliṃgamiti, trividhaṃ bhavati | punaridaṃ liṃgatrayaṃ pratyekaṃ dvividhaṃ bhavati | tatra bhāvaliṃgaṃ hi mahāliṃgaṃ prasādaliṃgamiti dvividhaṃ bhavati prāṇaliṃgaṃ tu jaṃgamaliṃgaṃ śivaliṃgamiti dvividhaṃ bhavati | iṣṭaliṃgaṃ tu guruliṃgaṃ ācāraliṃgamiti dvividhaṃ bhavati | evaṃ liṃgasthalaṃ ṣaḍvidhaṃ bhavati | sā svataṃtrasvaprakāśatāśaktireva kramādeṣu liṃgeṣu sūkṣmakāryakaraṇaprapaṃcopādānakāraṇībhūtacicchaktyaparaparyāyapraṇava rūpaśāṃtyatītottarākhyakaleti, ānaṃdarūpaparāśaktyaparaparyāyayakāramayaśāṃtyatītakaleti, aunmukhyalakṣaṇādiśaktyaparaparyāyavākārarūpaśāṃtikaleti, sūkṣmakriyālakṣaṇecchāśaktyaparaparyāyaśikārarūpavidyākaleti, bahirmukhījñānaśaktyaparaparyāyamakāramayapratiṣṭhākaleti, sthūlodyamakriyāśaktyaparaparyāyanakārarūpanivṛttikaleti, ṣaḍrūpatāmagam at || evaṃ ca mahāliṃgaṃ tāvat sarvapadārthānusaṃdhānalakṣaṇahṛdayarūpatvāt, śuddhānusaṃdhātṛrūpagopyamukhamityucyate | prasādādiliṃgapaṃcakaṃ tu krameṇa śabdādipratiniyatapadārthānusaṃdhātṛrūpeśānatatpuruṣāghoravāmasadyojā tākhyaprakaṭapaṃcamukhamityucyate | evaṃ vidhaliṃgatattvasya sāgarataraṃgabhaṃginyāyenābhedaparyavasāyibhedapradhānalakṣaṇaśuddhānusa ṃdhātṛrūpatvenānugrahahetutvādupāsyamityucyate | evamaṃgatattvaṃ ca trividhaṃ | svātmaguruliṃgajaṃgamānāmaikyayogānusaṃdhānalakṣaṇayogāṃgamiti tadarpitaprasādaparamopādeyasvīkārasukhapariṇamanalakṣaṇabhogāṃgamiti guruliṃgajaṃgameṣvavaṃcanīyaparityajanīyatanumanodhanarūpatyāgāṃgamiti | idaṃ ca pratyekaṃ dvividhaṃ bhavati | yogāṃgaṃ tu aikyaṃ śaraṇamiti bhidyate | bhogāṃgaṃ pṛ0 28) tu prāṇaliṃgi prasādīti naiṣṭhikābhaktiriti, śraddhābhaktiriti, ṣaḍvidhabhaktirūpatāṃ bhāvajñānamanobuddhyahaṃkāracittalakṣaṇāṃtaḥkaraṇaṣaṭkatāṃ śrotrādijñāneṃdriyarūpatāṃ śabdāditadviṣayatṛptilakṣaṇaṣaṭpadārthatāṃ tadvācakaṣaḍakṣarīrūpatāṃ kriyāsādhanībhūtavāgādikarmaiṃdriyarūpatāṃ sūkṣmarūpākāśādibhūtapaṃcakasamaṣṭirūpatāṃ sadbhāvasujñānasumanonirahaṃkārasubuddhisucittākhyaṣaṭkararūpatāṃ ca prāpyāṃgamabhavat | evaṃvidhāṃgatattvasya maheśvarīyalīlāśaktiparikalpitasaṃkucitacidādiśaktisvabhāvatvepi sūkṣmarūpamānasavyomādyupādhisaṃvalitatvenordhvasṛṣṭirūpavibhāganibandh anabhedapradhānalakṣaṇaśuddhavidyāpramātṛrūpatvādupāsakamityucyate | evaṃ ca liṃgatattvasya śaraṇatattvamaṃgaṃ, śaraṇasya liṃgaṃ prāṇaḥ, anayorbījavṛkṣanyāyena anyonyasāmarasyameva | evamanāditaḥ śaraṇa eva liṃgaṃ liṃgameva śaraṇa iti nūnaṃ | athaivaṃvidhaśaraṇasya svavimarśalakṣaṇagurukaṭākṣasaṃprāptasvātmapratyabhijñānaśālitvāt, etanmana eva praṇavarūpamahāliṃgaṃ bāhyeṃdriyalakṣaṇaśrotrādyekaikeṃdriyaviṣayaśabdādisakalapadārthagrahaṇ asādhanatvenāṃtarmukhatvāt, nādasunādamahānādarūpadeśikavākyaśāstravivakṣādhyavasāyoktirūpapaśya. mtyādikrameṇānugrahātmakaprasādahetutvāt, śabdagrahaṇasādhanaśrotrameva yakārarūpaprasādaliṃgaṃ carajaṃgamayoḥ paryāyatvāt, tasya tvak sarvāṃgaṃ vyāptā satī tatra śītādisparśasādhanatvāt | vākāramayajaṃgamaliṃgaṃ mahāprakāśa eva netragolakaṃ praviṣṭaḥ san sakalarūpapadārthaprakāśanasādhanatvāt netrameva śikāramayaśivaliṃgaṃ gurormaṃtramūrtitvāt ṣaḍakṣarīmaṃtra eva madhurāmlādiṣaḍrasarūpatāṃ prāpta iti tādṛ"nmaṃtroccāraṇarasāsvādanasādhanatvāt | jihvaiva makāramayaguruliṃgaṃ īḍāpiṃgalākhyanāḍīdvārā prāṇavāyusaṃcārāśrayatvāt satkarmācaraṇahetubhūtadehaśuddhirūparecakādikramotpannaprāṇāyāmācaraṇa sādhanatvācca, ghrāṇameva nakāramayamācāraliṃgamiti bhaṇyate | evaṃ liṃgalakṣaṇamavagaṃtavyaṃ || atha guruliṃgajaṃgamānāmaikyadhiyā bhasmarudrākṣādiśivalāṃkachaneṣu śivaśaraṇeṣu ca prītilakṣaṇabhaktimāneva bhaktaḥ || pṛ0 29) mahātmā jñānapūrvastu sudṛḍhaḥ sarvato'dhikaḥ || sneho bhaktiriti proktastayā muktirna cānyathā || iti śaṃkarasaṃhitokteḥ, śiva eva śrīguruliṃgajaṃgamātmaka iti niṣṭhāvāneva maheśvaraḥ, guruliṃgajaṃgamapādodakaprasādabhūtirudrākṣamaṃtralakṣaṇāṣṭāvaraṇait adaṃtargatādyapaṃcavidhavartanapaṃcācāreṣu vismṛtiśūnyatvena sāvadhānavāneva prasādī | vyādhyādau saṃprāpte, pādodakaprasādavyatirekeṇa liṃgārpitauṣadhaṃ cāyaṃ na svīkarotīti tābhyāṃ viśiṣṭaḥ liṃgameva prāṇaḥ prāṇa eva liṃgamityanusaṃdhānavāneva prāṇaliṃgī | tādṛśaprāṇaliṃgameva patiḥ svayameva satīti satīpatibhāvamāpannaḥ san satyāḥ satyaṃtaraṃ nāstītyanyasatīsaṃgaṃ parityajya svacicchaktisaṃmelanānaṃdabharitaḥ san nivṛttimārgamavalaṃbya bhaktijñānavairāgyasaṃpanna eva śaraṇa ityucyate | evaṃvidhasatīpatibhāvanivṛttyāvirbhāvanirābhāsaḥ san | vikalpavaimukhyena sarvaṃ śivātmakamiti vimṛśan śikhikarpūrayogavat aṃtarmukhamahāliṃgaikalolībhūta evaikyaḥ | ityaṃgasthalaṃ vimarśanīyaṃ | atra karpūrasya bhūtatvarūpatvāt, tasya paraṃparayā tejaḥkāryatvāt, kāryanāśasya kāraṇātmanā sthitirūpatvāt, na svarūpahāniriti śaṃkāvakāśaḥ | evaṃ ca bhaktādiṣaḍvidhaśivaśaraṇānāṃ ācārādiṣaḍvidhaliṃgānāṃ ca saṃbaṃdho vimarśanīyaḥ taduktaṃ bhavati || ācāraliṃgaṃ ghrāṇākhyaṃ bhaktasthalasamāśrayaṃ || nivṛttikalayopetaṃ gaṃdhagrahaṇasādhanam || guruliṃgaṃ tu jihvākhyaṃ maheśasthalasaṃśrayaṃ || pratiṣṭhākalayopetaṃ rasagrahaṇasādhanam || śivaliṃgaṃ tu netrākhyaṃ prasādisthalasaṃśrayam || vidyākalāsamopetaṃ rūpagrahaṇasādhanam || tvagākhyaṃ jaṃgamaṃ liṃgaṃ prāṇaliṃgasthalāśrayam || śāṃtyākhyakalayopetaṃ sparśagrahaṇasādhanam || prasādaligaṃ śrotrākhyaṃ śaraṇasthalasaṃśrayam || śāṃtyatītakalopetaṃ śabdagrahaṇasādhanam || mānasaṃ tu mahāliṃgamaikyasthalasamāśrayam || śāṃtyatītottaropetaṃ sarvagrahaṇasādhanam || iti || atra mānasādīnāṃ karaṇarūpatve'pi ghrātṛtvādilakṣaṇacaitanyasya ghreyādipadārthasvīkārasādhanatvena tadekaniṣṭhatvāt, liṃgarūpatvavyapadeśaḥ| anyathā ghrāturghrāṇarasane vāggaṃdhagrahaṇasādhanaṃ syāditi tātparyaṃ | bhaktādi- pṛ0 30) lakṣaṇaṃ tu skāṃde śaṃkarasaṃhitāyāṃ śadācāraḥ śive bhaktirliṃge jaṃgama ekadhīḥ || lāṃchane śaraṇe bhaktirbhaktasthalamanuttamam || parastriyaṃ parārthaṃ ca varjito bhāvaśuddhimān || liṃganiṣṭhāniyuktātmā māheśvaramahāsthalam || liṃgārpitapadārthaṃ ca subhogī liṃga āhitaḥ || anarpitavivarjī ca prasādisthalamuttamaṃ || vāyau prāṇaguṇe liṃgaṃ liṃge prāṇaḥ samāhitaḥ || sukhaduḥkhobhayaṃ nāsti prāṇaliṃgisthalaṃ bhavet || patirliṃgaṃ satī cāhaṃ hṛdi yuktaḥ svayaṃ prabhuḥ || prāpaṃcikasukhaṃ nāsti śaraṇasthalamuttamam || ṣaḍūrmayaśca ṣaḍbhāvā nāsti cāṣṭavidhārcanam || nirbhāvo nijaliṃgaikyaḥ śikhikarpūrayogavat || iti atra śaraṇasya prāpaṃcikasukhaṃ nāstītyanena strīparigraho nahīti sūcitaṃ || evaṃ cātrāṃgasthalasya liṃgasthalāṃtargatatvāt, śāṃtyatītottarākhyakalopetamahāsādākhyamahāliṃgatattvamekaṃ | śiṣṭapaṃcaliṃgagatakalāpaṃcakaṃ śivasādākhyāmūrtisādākhyamūrtisādākhyakarmasādākhyakartṛsādākhyarūp asādākhyapaṃcakaṃ militvā liṃgatattvānyekādaśeti saṃketaḥ | evaṃ sati, niṣkalaghanaliṃgatattvasya mahāliṃgaṃ mānasākhyāṃtarmukhaṃ prasādādiliṃgapaṃcakaṃ bāhyamukhapaṃcakaṃ sādākhyapaṃcakaṃ tu īśānādyaparaparyāyanāmadheyapaṃcakamiti tātparyaṃ | atha punastasya maheśituḥ sthūlaprapaṃcanirmāṇalīlāyāṃ ācāraliṃganiṣṭhakriyāśaktyaparaparyāyanivṛttikalāvaśāt, ahaṃkārādibhūmyaṃtatrayoviṃśatitattvamūlakāraṇībhūtasatvarajastamoguṇa atmakaprakṛtyaparaparyāyamāyātattvamutpannaṃ bhavati | tatra sātvikādiguṇapraviṣṭacaitanyameva rudraviṣṇubrahmākhyayā vyavahriyate | krameṇa vahnisūryasomāścaitadaṃtargatāḥ brahmakṣatravaiśyaśūdrākhyāścatvāro varṇāśca | cāturvarṇyaṃ mayā sṛṣṭaṃ guṇakarmavibhāgataḥ iti bhagavataiva bhāṣitatvāt, kathaṃ guṇatrayādvarṇacatuṣṭayotpattiriti nāśaṃkanīyaṃ | viśvādhiko rudro maharṣiḥ puruṣo vai rudraḥ sanmaho namaḥ iti śruteḥ śuddhasphaṭikasaṃkāśatvācca satvaguṇapraviṣṭacaitanyarūpamaharṣirudrāṃśībhūtabrāhmaṇotpattiḥ satvaguṇāt | rajoguṇasya miśritatvāt tadgatasatvāṃśatastu vaiṣṇavarājanyotpattiḥ | tadgatatamoṃ'śena brahmāṃśībhūtavaiśyotpattiḥ | tamoguṇādiṃdrāṃśībhūtaśūdrotpattiḥ| anye devāḥ saṃkarāḥ | uktaṃ ca parāśaropapurāṇe śaṃkarāḥ sarvadevāḥ syurvṛṣalaśca puraṃdaraḥ|| pitāmahastu vaiśyaḥ syāt kṣatriyaḥ paramo hariḥ || brāhmaṇo bhagavān rudraḥ sarveṣāmuttamottamaḥ || pṛ0 31) brahmabhūtasya rudrasya brāhmaṇyaṃ naiva hetujam || iti nanu? purāṇeṣu sarvatra viṣṇuḥ sātvikaḥ rudrastāmasa iti smaryamāṇatvātkathamuktārthasiddhiriti cenna | viṣṇurudrayoḥ sātvikatāmasokteḥpālanasaṃhāropādhikṛtatvāta, svabhāvatastu viṣṇustāmasaḥ rudraḥ sātvika eva | taduktaṃ bhāgavata eva || śatvaṃ rajastama iti prakṛterguṇāḥ syuryuktaḥ paraḥ puruṣa eva ihāsya dhatte || sthityādayo hariviriṃciharetisaṃjñā iti ṅa te giritrākhilalokapālaviriṃcivaikuṇṭhasureṃdragamyam || jyotiḥ paraṃ yatra rajastamaśca satvaṃ na yadbrahma nirastabhedamiti || atra prathamaśloke kramālaṃkāreṇa viṣṇoḥ sātvikatvaṃ rudrasya tāmasatvaṃ ca pālanādyupādhikṛtamiti spaṣṭameva pratīyate | kālakūṭaviṣolbaṇaprastāve rudraṃ prati, na te giritreti brahmaproktavacane kramālaṃkāreṇa vaikuṃṭhasya tamoguṇatvaṃ sureṃdrāparaparyāyarudrasya sātvikatvaṃ ca svabhāvikaṃ pratīyate | śuklavarṇatvādrudrasya kṛṣṇavarṇatvādviṣṇoriti, asminnarthe skāṃdapurāṇe || śhauklyaṃ satvaguṇājjātaṃ rāgo jāto rajoguṇāt || kārṣṇyaṃ tamoguṇājjātamiti viṃdyātsamāsataḥ || yasya māyāgataṃ satvaṃ śarīraṃ syāttamoguṇaḥ || saṃhārāya trimūrtīnāṃ sa rudraḥ syānna cāparaḥ || tathā yasya tamaḥ sākṣāccharīraṃ sātviko guṇaḥ || pālanāya trimūrtīnāṃ sa viṣṇuḥ syānnacāparaḥ iti smṛtatvācca | atra brahmādikīṭāṃtāḥ sakalāḥ trimalinaḥ viṣṇuḥ pralayākalo dvimalī pralaye kalāśūnyatvāt jñānī rudro hi vijñānākalaḥ kalāśūnyatvāt sadā jñānī saṃhārāya māyaikamalī | ūrdhvakoṭigatatyāgāṃgaprakāśastu kārmyaikamalavāsanāviśiṣṭatvānmaṃtraḥ bhogāṃgābhāsastu kārmamalavāsanākṣayaunmukhyarūpatvānmaṃtreśvaraḥ yogāṃgapratibhāsastu prāptakārmamalavāsanākṣayarūpatvānmaṃtramaheśvara iti bhaṇyate evamete ṣaḍvidhapramātaraḥ niṣkalaghanaliṃgaprakāśastu anutpannamalollāsapūrṇāhaṃsphuraṇamayīti vivekaḥ | atrānyonyābhāvalakṣaṇabhedapradhānarūpamāyākāryakoṭipraviṣṭamaṃgatatt vaṃ paṃcaviṃśatisaṃkhyākamiti bodhyaṃ | atrāṃtaḥkaraṇatrayaṃ jñāneṃdriyapaṃcakaṃ ca satvakāryaṃ, karmaiṃdriyapaṃcakaṃ rājasaṃ, tanmātrapaṃcakaṃ bhūtapaṃcakaṃ ca tāmasamityavagaṃtavyaṃ || atra bahūnāṃ janmanāmaṃte jñānavānmāṃ prapadyata iti bhagavadukteḥ anekajanmārjitaśivapūjādisatkarmamahimnā iha janmani gurukaṭākṣava- pṛ0 32) śādevaṃvidhaṣaṭsthalabrahmajñānaṃ kaścideva labdhvā mukto bhavatīti nūnaṃ | athoktalakṣaṇaṣaṭsthalabrahmaviccharaṇasya gopyādisadyāṃtaṣaṇmukhasamuditajyotirbiṃdvardhacaṃdrakuṃḍaladaṃḍatāraka akāraṣaḍakṣarāṇyeva ṣaḍbhūtāni bhūtvāṃ'gatāmabhajan | iti tadaṃge ṣaṭpraṇavarūpeṣṭaliṃgaṃ susthiramāse tatpīṭhe hyācāraliṃgaṃ, khaṃḍikāvaraṇe guruliṃgaṃ, vartule śivaliṃgaṃ, gomukhe jaṃgamaliṃgaṃ, yonisthāne prasādaliṃgaṃ, golake mahāliṃgaṃ, ityevaṃ ṣaḍvidhaliṃgānāṃ prakāśamānatvāt | tatra bhaktastāvadācāraliṃgasya kriyāśaktiyuktasya śraddhābhaktyā sucittahastena gaṃdhapadārthaṃ dhṛtvā nakāramaṃtramanusmaran ghrāṇeṃdriyamukhe samarpya tatprasādabhogī bhūtvā pariṇāmī bhavati | maheśvaro hi guruliṃgasya jñānaśaktiyuktasya naiṣṭhikābhaktyā subuddhihasteta rasapadārthaṃ dhṛtvā makāramaṃtramanusmaran rasaneṃdriyamukhe samarpya tatprasādaṃ svīkṛtya pariṇāmī bhavati | prasādī tu śivaliṃgasya icchāśaktiyuktasya sāvadhānabhaktyā nirahaṃkārahastena rūpapadārthaṃ parigṛhya śikāramaṃtramanusmaran netreṃdriyamukhe samarpya tatprasādabhogī bhūtvā pariṇāmī bhavati | prāṇaliṃgī tu aunmukhyaśaktiyuktasya jaṃgamaliṃgasya anubhāvabhaktyā sumanohastena sparśapadārthaṃ dhṛtvā vākāramaṃtramanusmaran tvagiṃdriyamukhe samarpya tatprasādabhogī bhūtvā pariṇāmī bhavati | śaraṇastu parāśaktiyuktasya prasādaliṃgasya ānaṃdabhaktyā sujñānahastena śabdapadārthaṃ dhṛtvā yakāramaṃtramanusmaran śrotreṃdriyamukhe samarpya tatprasādaṃ bhuktvā pariṇāmī bhavati | aikyastu, cicchaktiyuktasya mahāliṃgasya samarasabhaktyā sadbhāvahastena tṛptipadārthaṃ dhṛtvā praṇavamaṃtramanusmaran manomukhe samarpya tatprasādatṛptaḥ san pariṇāmī bhavati | evaṃ samarpitavataḥ śaraṇasya jñapte brahmaṇi viśramitatvāt oṃkāro vadanaṃ devi namaḥkārau bhujadvayam || śikāro dehamadhyastu vāyakārau padadvayam || pīṭhaṃ pādādijānvaṃtamānābhermadhyamīritam || hṛdayāṃtaṃ vartulaṃ syātkaṃṭhāṃtaṃ gomukhaṃ tathā || bhrūmadhyāṃtaṃ liṃgakaṃṭho mastako liṃgamastakaḥ || iti vacanāt taccharīrasyāpi maṃtraliṃgarūpatvāt, ācaraṇīyaṃ kimapi nāstyeva | tathāpi, liṃgāṃgasāmarasyaprakāro vibhāvanīyaḥ || tathāhi || pṛthvī bhaktāṃgaṃ bhūtvā tatraiva līnā bhavati | ciddhṛtirūpatvāt vāri maheśvarāṃgaṃ bhūtvā tatraiva līnaṃ | cidāpyāyanarūpatvāt | tejaḥ prasādyaṃgaṃ bhūtvā tatraiva līnaṃ | cidujvalanarūpatvāt | vāyuḥ pṛ0 33) prāṇaliṃgyaṃgaṃ bhūtvā tatraiva līnaḥ svataṃtratālakṣaṇaspaṃdanarūpatvāt | vyoma śaraṇāṃgaṃ bhūtvā tatraiva līnaṃ cidvyāptirūpatvāt | vedyasaṃskārātmakabiṃdurhi aikyāṃgaṃ bhūtvā tatraiva līnaḥ| evaṃ bhaktasyācāraliṃgāṃgatvāt, sa tatraiva līnaḥ| guruliṃgāṃgatvāt, maheśvarasya sa tatraiva līnaḥ| prasādī śivaliṃgāṃgatvāt, sa tatraiva līnaḥ | prāṇaliṃgī jaṃgamaliṃgāṃgatvāt, sa tatraiva līnaḥ| śaraṇaḥ prasādaliṃgāṃgatvāt, sa tatraiva līnaḥ | aikyo hi mahāliṃgāṃgatvāt, sa tatraiva līna iti vimarśanīyam || athācāraliṃgaṃ guruliṃge, guruliṃgaṃ śivaliṃge, śivaliṃgaṃ jaṃgamaliṃge, jaṃgamaliṃgaṃ prasādaliṃge, prasādaliṃgaṃ mahāliṃge, mahāliṃgaṃ ghanaliṃgaikalolībhūtaṃ sadakhaṃḍāmarśaparibṛṃhitaṃ sadāsti | liṃgaṣaṭkasya cidānaṃdapratiphalanakalanātmakatvāditi || evaṃvidhaliṃgāṃgasāmarasyaṃ vivartavāde na saṃbhavati, mānasādibhūmyaṃtaprameyaṣaṭkasyāvidyākāryatvena mithyātvāditi vimarśanīyaṃ | evaṃvidhaṣaṭsthalajñānavāneva sarvotkṛṣṭaḥ uktaṃ ca śāṃkarasaṃhitāyāṃ || krimikīṭapataṃgebhyaḥ paśavaḥ prajñayā'dhikāḥ || paśubhyo'pi narāḥ śreṣṭhāsteṣu śreṣṭhā dvijātayaḥ || dvijātiṣvadhikā viprā vipreṣu ṛtubuddhayaḥ || ṛtubuddhiṣu kartārastebhyaḥ saṃnyāsino'dhikāḥ || tebhyo vijñāninaḥ śreṣṭhāsteṣu śaṃkarapūjakāḥ || teṣu śreṣṭhā mahābhāga mama liṃgāṃgasaṃginaḥ|| liṃgāṃgasaṃgiṣvadhikaḥ ṣaṭsthalajñānavān bhavet || tasmādabhyadhiko nāsti triṣu lokeṣu sarvadā || iti atra brāhmaṇasya liṃgadhāraṇaṃ kathamaśrautatvāditi nāśaṃkanīyaṃ pāṇimantraṃ pavitraṃ syāditi śrutivinirṇaya iti tatraivoktatvāt triyaṃbakaṃ yajāmaha iti śrutatvācca | yajadevapūjāsaṃgatikaraṇadāneṣviti dhātoḥ liṃgāṃgasaṃbandhasya prāptatvāditi saṃkṣepaḥ|| ayamaparo viśeṣaḥ uktavidhaṣaṭtriṃśattattvātmakasya viśvasya vidyāsu śrutirutkṛṣṭā rudraikādaśinī śrutau || tatra paṃcākṣarī tasyāṃ śiva ityakṣaradvayaṃ || iti paurāṇikokteḥ, śiva ityakṣaradvayasya jīvaratnatvāt | tadaṃtarbhāvaprakāro'pi vimarśanīyaḥ || nanu tattvānāmasādhāraṇalakṣaṇaṃ vinā tatpratijñānāsaṃbhavāt kathaṃ tadaṃtarbhāvaprakāro vimarśanīya iti ceducyate | atroktaliṃgatattveṣu sādākhyānāṃ nāmadheyamātratvāt, kalānāṃ vimarśāṃśatvāt, liṃgānāṃ prakāśāṃtargatatvāt, tadekarūpameva | evaṃ ca vimarśaparibṛṃhitaṃ pṛ0 34) brahmaiva svakrīḍārthaṃ līlayā śivaśaktisadāśiveśvaraśuddhavidyāmāyākalāvidyārāgakālaniyatipuruṣapra kṛtyahaṃkārabuddhimanaḥ śrotṛtvakcakṣurjihvāghrāṇavākpāṇipādapāyūpasthaśabdasparśarūparasaga ṃdhākāśavāyuvahnisalilabhūmaya iti ṣaṭtriṃśattattvātmanā bhidyate | tathāhi| anādinidhanācchāṃtācchivātparamakāraṇāt || icchāśaktirviniṣkrāṃtā tato jñānaṃ tataḥ kriyā || tayotpannāni bhūtāni bhuvanāni caturdaśa || ityāgamokteḥ || ardhaṃ kriyā bhavati dakṣiṇamanyadardhaṃ jñānaṃ samatvamanayorapi madhyamicchā || icchaiva mūlamuditāṃtarabāhyagatyā jñānaṃ kriyā ca khalu mūlamihāṃkurasya || iti mātṛkācakravivekasthiteśca | sṛṣṭyunmukhasya maheśvarasya svecchāśaktyaṃtaraṃgabhūtajñānāṃśapraviṣṭaprathamodyoga eva bhāvicarācaraprapaṃcanimittakāraṇaṃ sarvajñasarvakartṛnīlakaṃṭhomāpatitrilocanatvādilakṣaṇaṃ śivatattvamiti | idameva īśānamaṃtrapratipādyasadāśivatattvaṃ || īśānaḥ sarvavidyānāmīśvaraḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ brahmādhipatirbrahmaṇo'dhipatirbrahmā śivo me astu sadāśivomiti śruteḥ asyāyamarthaḥ || sarvavidyānāṃ catuḥṣaṣṭikalānāṃ īśānaḥ adhipatiḥ, anena sarvajñatvamuktaṃ | sarvabhūtānāṃ bhavanaśīlānāṃ carācaraprāṇināmīśvaraḥ niyāmakaḥ, etena sarvakartṛtvamuktaṃ brahmādhipatiḥ brahmaṇāṃ tatpuruṣādisadyojātāṃtānāṃ īśarudraviṣṇubrahmaṇāṃ tirodhānādikṛtyacatuṣṭayaniyamitānāṃ adhipatiḥ tajjanakatvena tanniyāmakaḥ, brahmaṇo'dhipatiḥ brahmaṇaḥ tapasaḥ adhipatiḥ brahmā paramānaṃdaparibṛṃhitaḥ, śivaḥ svacchaprakāśaḥ, vaśakāṃtāvitidhātoḥ|| atha vā'naṃtakalyāṇaguṇaikanidhirīśvaraḥ|| śiva ityucyate sadbhiḥ śivatattvārthavedibhiḥ || iti paurāṇikokteḥ, kalyāṇaguṇaparipūrṇo vā | sadāśivaḥ, sat ā śivaḥ iti vicchedena saccidānaṃdarūpaḥ, ākārasya ānaṃdavācakatvāt, praṇavaikalolībhāvena pratīyamānatvāt, tatpratipādyaḥ praṇavāṃśībhūtākārasya sthitaviśvasphūrtimayamīśvaratattvaṃ, śaktitattvapuṃbhāvalīlāsvarūpanārāyaṇākhyaṃ | atha kriyāpradhānedaṃtāyāḥ saṃvidrūpāhaṃtāṃtargatatattvena bhāsamānatvāt, vibhāganibaṃdhanabhedaghaṭitasāgarataraṃganyāyenāhaṃtedaṃtayoraikyapratipa ttirbrahmāparaparyāyaśuddhavidyātattvaṃ bhavati | guruśāstralabdhanirmalasaṃvittiritīti yāvat | athaivaṃvidhaśuddhavidyātattvamevāṃḍarasanyāyena svāṃtarlīneṣu bhavanakriyonmukheṣu bhāveṣu anyonyābhāvanibaṃdhanabhedabuddhipradhānaṃ sat māyātattvaṃ bhavati || kalāsaptadaśī devī svāṃtarlīnacarācareti āgamokteḥ || idaṃ sarvaṃ jagatpūrvaṃ pralaye parameśvare || māyābhinne svamāyākhyakāraṇābhedarūpataḥ || vartate vāsanārūpeṇaiva nābhāvarūpataḥ iti parāśaropapurāṇavacanācca, svāṃtarlīnacarācarātparameśvarāt, kāṣṭhayogena vahnervisphuliṃgāvirbhāvavat tadicchāśaktivaśādvibhaktaḥ san, uktalakṣaṇa māyāśaktau pratibiṃbagatyā praviṣṭo yaḥ prakāśaḥ, sa puruṣatattvaṃ bhavati | śubhāśubhavāsanārūṣitakārmamalamanyonyābhāvabhedalakṣaṇamāyikamalaṃ ca prāptaṃ bhavati | evaṃvidhamalatrayaśṛṃkhalitatvādeva, saṃsārītyucyate | asya puruṣasya maheśvarādvibhaktatvena māyāpahṛtaiśvaryatvāt, asaṃkucitatatkartṛtāśaktireva kiṃcitkartṛtālakṣaṇakalātattvaṃ bhavati | jñātṛtāśaktireva kiṃcijjñatvalakṣaṇamavidyātattvaṃ bhavati | pūrṇatāśaktirevāpūrṇatāṃ prāpya athaunmukhyagarbhitecchāśaktireva, pratisphuraṇagatyā svagatajñānakriyānyonyābhāvalakṣaṇamāyāpratisphuraṇarūpasukhaduḥkhamoha pradasatvarajastamasāṃ sāmyāvasthālakṣaṇamahaṃkārādibhūmyaṃtatrayoviṃśatitattvamūlakāraṇaṃ , prakṛtitattvaṃ bhavati | atha, ahaṃ mamedamityabhimānasādhanamahaṃkāratattvaṃ bhavati | niścayaheturbuddhitattvaṃ bhavati | sthāṇurvā puruṣo veti saṃkalpavikalpasādhanaṃ manastattvaṃ, samīcīnakalpasthāṇutvabuddherviparītatvātpuruṣatvabuddhervikalpatvaṃ, etattritayaṃ śarīrāṃtaḥsthitvā, sukhādivedyāvadhānakaraṇarūpatvādaṃtaḥkaraṇaṃ, icchāśaktipradhānaṃ | atha śarīrabāhyalagnaṃ sat śabdajñānaikakaraṇaṃ śrotraṃ, sparśajñānaikakaraṇaṃ tvak, rūpajñānaikakaraṇaṃ cakṣuḥ, | athoccāraṇakriyāheturvāk, dānādānādikriyāhetuḥ pāṇiḥ, gamanāgamanakriyāsādhanaṃ pādaṃ, bhuktajīrṇamalaparityāgasādhanaṃ pāyuḥ, retomūtraparityāgakriyāsādhanamupasthakaṃ, etatpaṃcakaṃ kriyāśaktipradhānatvāt karmaiṃdriyamityucyate | etatkaraṇacaturdaśakamicchājñānakriyātmakamityavagaṃtavyaṃ | atha śrotraikavedyaḥ śabdaḥ, tvagekavedyaḥ sparśaḥ, netraikavedyaṃ rūpaṃ, rasanaikavedyo rasaḥ, ghrāṇaikavedyo gandhaḥ, eteṣāṃ dhvanivarṇaśītoṣṇanīlapītamadhurāmlasurabhyasurabhitvādivibhāgaśūnyatve na sāmānyarūpatvāttanmātrarūpatvena vyapadeśaḥ| atha marudagnyaṃbubhūmīnāmavakāśapradaṃ śabdaikaguṇakamākāśaṃ, kampabhramaṇaśoṣaṇavegavān sparśaikaguṇo vāyuḥ, dāhakaṃ pācakaṃ rūpavattejaḥ, aṃtaścaṃdrādiśītatejasi dāhakatvābhāvepi sasyādivardhanarūpapācakatvasthiternāvyāptiḥ | drāvakaṃ tūṣmākṣaravācyatvāt, ūṣmaṇāṃ śaktirūpatvāt, śaktīnāṃ paramaśivasvabhāvatvena tadīyaśuddhānusaṃdhānarūpatvena tadekarūpatvānna virodha iti vivekaḥ || evaṃvidhaṣaṭtriṃśattattvātmakaṃ viśvaṃ || śhivo vā praṇavaḥ proktaḥ praṇavo vā śivātmakaḥ || vācyavācakayorbhedo nātyaṃtaṃ bhidyate kvacit || iti paurāṇikokteḥ | śadāśivomiti śruteḥ ahamityakramākrāṃtajagattritayamaṃḍalaḥ || vartate devi vīreṃdra iti śuddhavidyādiśaktyaṃtatattvacatuṣṭayaṃ tadvācakaśavargaśca śakāreṃ'tarbhūtaḥ tadūrdhvaṃ śādivikhyātaṃ purastādbrahmapaṃcakam ityuktatvāt, akāre tvanugrahātmakaṣoḍaśakalāparipūrṇasadāśivatattvaṃ | prakṛtitattvāntapaṃcaviṃśateḥ aśuddhādhveti nāma | ita ūrdhvaṃ rāgatattvaṃ, asya vṛttiḥ prakṛtijātavastūnāmātmane prarocanaṃ | ata ūrdhvaṃ niyatitattvaṃ, asya vṛttiḥ ātmanaḥ svena svenaiva kṛtāni karmāṇi ātmanaiva bhoktavyānīti niyamanaṃ | ita ūrdhvaṃ kālatattvaṃ, asya vṛttiḥ dīrghakālaṃ bhuṃkte svalpakālaṃ bhuṃkta iti puruṣasya bhogaparicchedaḥ | ataḥ paraṃ vidyātattvaṃ asya vṛttiḥ viṣayoparaktāṃ buddhiṃ puruṣe gṛhṇātīti karaṇabhūtattvaṃ | asmātparaṃ kalātattvaṃ asya vṛttiḥ ātmano'nādibhūtatāmrakālikāvatsahajamalaśakterekadeśamapasārya ātmasvarūpasya prakāśanaṃ | asya kāraṇaṃ māyātattvaṃ | pūrvoktaprakṛtitattvarāgatattvavidyātattvānāmutpattiḥ pṛ0 3) kalātattve | niyatikālakalātattvānāmutpattirmāyātattve kalātattvavidyātattvakālatattvaniyatitattvarāgatattvāni | etānyekatriṃśattattvāni | ātmanyātmani pārthakyena sūkṣmadehāni bhavanti | eteṣāṃ kāryāṇāṃ bhuvanaśarīrāṇāmāśrayiṇāṃ bhuvanānāmāśrayāṇāṃ sarvātmanāṃ sādhāraṇāni triṃśattattvāni | eteṣāṃ sarveṣāṃ kāraṇamaśuddhamāyātattvaṃ | idaṃ māyātatvaṃ nityaṃ vyāpakaṃ samastātmakarmasaṃbaddhaṃ | svavṛttidvāreṇa jñānakriyāprakāśībhavadapi mohakaṃ | itaḥparaṃ dvātriṃśakaṃ vidyātattvaṃ itaḥparaṃ trayastriṃśakamīśvaratattvaṃ | asmin śuddhavidyātattve saptakoṭimahāmaṃtrāḥ | śrīmatkāmikādyaṣṭāviṃśatisaṃhitāśca naṃdyādayo'ṣṭau gaṇeśvarāśca siddhāntaśāstreṇa pūjyamānāḥ iṃdrādilokapālāśca eteṣāmāyudhāni vajrādīni ca vasanti | īśvaratattve vidyeśvarāḥ anaṃtādayo'ṣṭau vartante | eteṣvanaṃtaḥ sarveśvaratvāt teṣāṃ vidyeśvarāṇāṃ vidyātattvavāsināṃ cānyeṣāṃ ceśvarabhūto māyākṣobhakaśca māyīyatattvabhuvanānāṃ sraṣṭā ca | kiṃcāyaṃ parameśvarādbhinnaḥ ekamalayuktaśca malapākena parameśvareṇānugṛhītaśca bhavati anena sṛṣṭirūpeṇāṇavakārmabaṃdhadvayavaṃtaḥ pralayākalā ityabhihite ātmarāśau malapākavanto niradhikaraṇenaiva parameśvareṇānugṛhītā aṣṭādaśābhyadhikaṃ śatarudrāḥ santi | eteṣu śrīkaṃṭhasaṃjño rudro madhyapralayānte prakṛtitattvādarvāktattveṣu bhuvanānāṃ ca sraṣṭā, āṇavakārmamāyīyātmakabaṃdhatritayena yuktānāṃ sakalanāmnāmātmanāṃ rāśau jñānayogatapo'dhyayanādibhirviśiṣṭaśca brahmaviṣṇupadayornirvāhakaśca bhavati | asya madhyapralayasamaye rāgatattve'vasthānaṃ | paścātsṛṣṭikāle prāpte aśuddhādhvasṛṣṭipūrvaṃ brahmaviṣṇusṛṣṭīnāmadhiṣṭhātā sthitvā atorvāktanabhuvaneśvarāṃśca trayastriṃśatkoṭidevāṃśca brahmāṃḍāni ca sṛjati brahmāṃḍaṃ caturdaśabhuvanaṃ sakalānāṃ prajānāmāvāsabhūmiḥ | pūrvoktarudreṣu śatarudrāḥ pāṃcabhautikabrahmāṃḍaṃ vinā kevalapṛthivītattve sthitvā brahmāṃḍasya rakṣakā bhavanti | guṇatattve brahmaviṣṇubhyāṃ saha sthito rudrabhaṭṭārako madhyapralayaparyaṃtamadhikāraṃ kṛtvā imau brahmaviṣṇū copasaṃhṛtya svayaṃ miśrādhvarāgatattve pṛ0 4) vartate anena saha vīrabhadradevaśca vartate | prakṛtimastake'ṣṭau kalāmastake'ṣṭau ca brahmaviṣṇvādipadānyātmakartṛkajñānayogabalena saṃpādayanti | eteṣāmaṣṭādaśaśatarudrāṇāṃ malapākātparameśvaraprasādācca dīkṣāpūrvakaṃ krameṇa padaprāptiḥ | śuddhavidyātattvavāsināṃ malapākātparameśvaraprasādācca padaprāptiḥ | eteṣāṃ vidyeśvarāṇāṃ svarūpaṃ baindavaṃ aṣṭādaśādhikaśatarudrāṇāṃ śarīraṃ māyīyaṃ | brahmaviṣṇvādīnāṃ śarīraṃ prākṛtaṃ, aṣṭādaśaśatarudrāṇāṃ vidyeśvarāṇāṃ ca svarūpamiva sākṣātparameśvarasya sakalāni svarūpāṇi pūjādiṣu dhyeyāni | brahmaviṣṇuśarīrasya prākṛtatvātparameśvarānugrahapūrvamasaṃbhavatvācca brahmaviṣṇuśarīravat parameśvaraḥ kenāpi na dhyāyate | brahmaviṣṇupadamubhayaṃ paśubhūmiḥ | rudrapadamīśvarapadamubhayaṃ patibhūmiḥ | asmādīśvaratattvādupari sadāśivatattvaṃ | ataḥparaṃ śaktitattvaṃ | atūrdhvaṃ śivatattvaṃ | etattattvatritayaṃ parameśvarasya adhikārabhogalayatattvasaṃjñānimittaṃ, etasmiṃstattvatritaye parameśvarādvyatiriktāni kartṛbhūtānyātmāntarāṇi na vidyante | layabhogādhikārapadāni śraddadhānāḥ sādhakadīkṣayā dīkṣitā maṃtrasādhakāḥ paścātparameśvaraprasādena tattadbhuvanaṃ prāpya bhoktāro vairāgyaparyaṃtaṃ vā mahāsaṃhāraparyaṃtaṃ vā sthitvā vidyeśvaravanmuktāścidātmāno na bhavanti | vidyātattve akārādikṣakārāntapaṃcāśadakṣarāṇi kāmikādyaṣṭāviṃśatisaṃhitāśca vaikharīrūpāṇi vartante īśvaratattve praṇavaśca | sadāśivatattve sakalo binduḥ sakalo nādaśca | śaktitatve sūkṣmābhidheyabuddhibījamātmanyātmani pṛthakpṛthagbhūtvā sūkṣmanādātmakaṃ puryaṣṭakaṃ tiṣṭhati | śivatattvasya kāraṇaṃ biṃduśca biṃdoḥ śivatattvasya ca tatvabhedavyapadeśo nāsti | sadāśivaśaktitattve'dhiṣṭhāya sthitasya śivasya sakalaḥ sakalaniṣkalaḥ niṣkalaḥ vyaktaḥ vyaktāvyaktaḥ avyaktaḥ maheśvaraḥ sadāśiva iti ca nāmāni | eteṣu ṣaṭtriṃśattattveṣu biṃdurnityo vyāpako'mūrtaḥ parameśvarasya nityādhiṣṭheyaḥ śabdārthātmakaḥ nādādidvāreṇātmanāṃ samyagjñānasya kāraṇaṃ | amohakaśca bhavati | māyāvyatiriktasamastavastūnāmupādānaṃ jaḍaśca pṛthvītattvamārabhya śivāntāni śabdarūpāḥ | eteṣu bhuvanādhvā tattvādhvānamāśritya vartate | tattvādhvā kalādhvānaṃ varṇapadamaṃtrātmakāstrayo'dhvāno bhuvanajaśarīrāpekṣayā vartante | eteṣāṃ ṣaḍadhvānāṃ paramakāraṇaṃ vastu kuṃḍalinīti ca śuddhavidyeti ca brahmeti cocyate | ete ṣaḍadhvāna ātmanāṃ saṃsāraḥ ṣaḍadhvavyatiriktā nityā vyāpakāścetanāḥ pratiśarīraṃ bhinnā malināḥ karmakartāraḥ karmaphalabhoktāraḥ kiṃcijjñāḥ kiṃcitkartāraḥ seśvarāśca bhavantyātmānaḥ | ete baṃdhabhedena sakalapralayākalavijñānākalā iti trividhā ucyante | eteṣāmātmanāṃ māyīyabaṃdhaḥ kalādipṛthivyaṃtatattvabhuvanabhauvanādirūpaḥ | kāmyabaṃdho jyotiṣṭomabrahmahatyādibhirutpannaḥ apūrvākhyasaṃskārarūpaḥ puryaṣṭakamadhyagatabuddhitattvamāśritya sukhaduḥkhamohātmakaphalaśca bhavati | malākhyo baṃdhaḥ ātmanāṃ svarūpajñānakriyāvārakaḥ ātmanyātmani pṛthakpṛthagbhūtvā svakālānte vyāpayiṣyadanekaśaktisahito nityo vyāpako jaḍadravyaṃ ca bhavati | baiṃdavo baṃdho vidyāvidyeśvarādiśarīrāṇāṃ kāraṇaṃ sakalākhyasaṃsāribhogaparikarībhūtasūkṣmādivaikharyantaśabdahetuśca rodhaśaktyātmakaḥ pāśo māyīyakārmāṇavabaiṃdavapāśacatuṣṭayasyānādidharmahetuśca śivaśaktireva upacārātpāśa ityucyate | śuddhādhvavartināṃ baiṃdavo rodhaśaktiśceti pāśadvayameva | miśrādhvavartināṃ tu etaddvayaṃ cāṇavaḥ kārmikaśceti pāśacatuṣṭayaṃ | aśuddhādhvavartināṃ tu etaccatuṣṭayaṃ māyīyaśceti baṃdhāḥ paṃca | eteṣu triṣvadhvavartiṣu śuddhādhvavāsināṃ muktānāmiva niratiśayasukhameva duḥkhaspṛṣṭāḥ sukhaduḥkhamohāśca na santi | ato hetorayaṃ śuddhādhvetyabhidhīyate | miśrādhvavāsināṃ tu sarvajñatāyāmapi sukhaduḥkhamohāśca santi | ato hetorayaṃ miśrādhvetyabhidhīyate | aśuddhādhvavāsināṃ tu kiṃcijjñatvaṃ kiṃcitkartṛtvaṃ ca sukhaduḥkhamohāśca santi | ato hetorayamaśuddhādhvetyabhidhīyate | atra baiṃdavo māyīyaśca pāśāvāgaṃtukau | kārmapāśastu pravāhānādirbhogāvasādhanaḥ | āṇavapāśastu kūṭasthānādiḥ svapākānte parameśvaraprasādātmikayā pṛ0 6) dīkṣayā nivartyaḥ| kārmapāśastu vijñānayogasaṃnyāsairvā bhogena vā kṣīyate | ete jñānādayaḥ śāstradvārā saṃpadyante tāni śāstrāṇi paṃcavidhāni laukikaṃ vaidikamādhyātmikamatimārgikaṃ māṃtraṃ ceti | laukikaṃ tu āyurvedadaṃḍanītyādidṛṣṭaphalaṃ śāstraṃ | vaidikaṃ tu vedeṣu kriyābhāgamuddiśya ṛṣibhirjyotiṣṭomādipuṇyapratipādakasvargādisādhakami imāṃsāśāstraṃ | vedaviṣaye pauruṣeyasādhake padārthapramāṇayoḥ parīkṣāṃ kartumṛṣibhiḥ praṇīte nyāyavaiśeṣike śāstre ca, etattritayaṃ dṛṣṭādṛṣṭaphalaṃ śāstraṃ | ādhyātmikaṃ tu sāṃkhyapātaṃjalavedāntākhyānyupaniṣadbhāgamuddiśya ṛṣibhiḥ praṇītāni ātmajñānaphalāni śāstrāṇi | atimārgikaṃ tu śāstraṃ rudrapraṇītāni pāśupatakāpālamahāvratāni | māṃtraṃ tu śivapraṇītaṃ siddhāntaśāstraṃ | mīmāṃsāśāstrasya kartā bhagavān jaiminiḥ anena śāstreṇa pratipādyamāno'rtho-vākyalakṣaṇaṃ ca vedā apauruṣeyā iti ca prapaṃco nitya iti ca iṣṭaṃ pūrtaṃ karmānuṣṭheyamiti ca karmānuṣṭhānamevānuṣṭhātuḥ svargādisādhanamiti ca bhautikaśarīreṃdriyebhyaḥ anye ātmānaḥ ete cāneke etebhyo vilakṣaṇa īśvaro na kaściditi ca | vaiśeṣikaśāstreṇa tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ pṛthivyaptejovāyava iti bhūtāni catvāryanityānīti ca eteṣāṃ kāraṇāni tattannāmāno bhinnāḥ paramāṇava iti ca etebhyo'nyacchabdakāraṇaṃ nityaṃ paṃcamamākāśātmakaṃ bhūtamiti ca etasmādanyo nityaḥ kālo diśaśca etebhyo bhūtakāraṇaśarīreṃdriyebhyo'nye amūrtā nityāḥ | ātmāno'neke etebhyo vyatiriktaṃ jñānādihetukaṃ nityaṃ manaśca ātmanyātmanyabhidhīyamānāni pṛthivyaptejovāyvākāśakāladigātmamanāṃsīti nava dravyāṇi dravyapadārthaḥ etebhyo vyatiriktaḥ rūpādirguṇapadārthaḥ etasmādanya utkṣepaṇādikarmapadārthaḥ ato'nyo gotvādiḥ sāmānyapadārthaḥ iha ghaṭe śauklyamityādiḥ samavāyapadārthaḥ etebhyaḥ paṃcebhyo'nyo viśeṣapadārthaḥ eteṣu ṣaṭsu ātmanaḥ padārthatattvasya manaḥsaṃyogāt jñānamutpadyate anena puṇyāpuṇyātmakakarmānuṣṭhānamutpadyate | anena pāpātpāpātmakakarmānuṣṭhānamutpadyate anena śarīreṃdriyāṇi ca puṇyāpuṇyavaśena svarganarakaprāptiḥ sarvasyāsya nirvāhaka pṛ0 7) īśvaraḥ asya manaḥsaṃyogāt jñānāderutpattirna kiṃtu svabhāvasiddhaṃ jñānaṃ | itthaṃ padārthānāṃ ṣaṇṇāṃ sādharmyavaidharmyajñānena karmakṣayo bhavati manaḥsaṃyogajanitajñānaṃ vinā pāṣāṇakalpā vartante ayameva mokṣa iti ca vedā īśvarakartṛkā iti ca | nyāyaśāstreṇa tu pratipādyamānorthaḥ- pratyakṣādipramāṇāni prameyasiddhyarthaṃ jñeyānīti ca vaiśeṣikoktakrameṇaiva padārthā aite ṣoḍaśavidhā iti ca mokṣalakṣaṇaṃ ca etaduktaprakāramiti ca īśvaraḥ padārthatattvasya ca jñānacikīrṣāprayoktā nitya iti ca, etacchāstradvayapraṇetārau kaṇādākṣapādau ca| sāṃkhyaśāstreṇa tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ- nityā vyāpikā jaḍarūpā samastavastūnāṃ kāraṇaṃ satvarajastamasāṃ sāmyāvasthā'mūrtā ca prakṛtiriyaṃ prakṛtiścaturviṃśatitattvamiti ca | etatkāryaṃ buddhitattvamārabhya pṛthvītattvāntāni trayoviṃśatitattvānīti ca, evaṃbhūtacaturviṃśatitattvebhyo'nye nityāḥ vyāpakāḥ amūrtāḥ nānāvidhāḥ sarvakartṛtvasarvajñatvarahitāḥ jñānamātrāḥ ātmānaḥ| evaṃ paṃcaviṃśatitattvanīti ca, paṃcabhautikaśarīre buddhitattvameva pradhānaṃ eteṣāṃ muktidaśāyāṃ saṃsāradaśāyāṃ ca nirviśeṣaṃ svarūpaṃ aśuddhirnāstīti ca anādisiddhāyāḥ buddhigatāyāḥ avidyāyā vaśātsāṃsārikasukhaduḥkhajñānamutpadyate iti ca | prakṛtipuruṣavivekajñānādavidyāyā vināśe mokṣa iti ca ātmabhyovyatirikta īśvara iti ca na kaściditi ca etacchāstrapraṇetā kapilaḥ| pātaṃjalaśāstreṇa tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ- itthaṃ prakṛtiprākṛte ca ātmānaśca baṃdhamokṣau ca saṃti | vivekajñānavadyogaśca yogaparikara iti ca ṣaḍviṃśatitattvamīśvara ekaḥ asyātmabhyo viśeṣaḥ svādhīnatānirmāṇaṃ cittamityākhyāvat kevalasatvarūpadhāraṇaṃ ca ātmajñānopadeṣṭṛtvaṃ ceti ca etacchāstrapraṇetā pātaṃjaliḥ | vedāntaśāstreṇa tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ- bhāskarīyā māyāvādinaḥ śabdabrahmavādinaḥ krīḍābrahmavādinaśceti caturvidhā vedāntavādinaḥ | eteṣu bhāskarīyāḥ jaḍājaḍātmakaṃ suranaratiryagādiko vasturāśirakhilo brahmapariṇāmaḥ etadbrahmasaccidānaṃdātmakaṃ vyāpakaṃ ca etadeveśvaro bhavati asya vikāratvasyājñānātparivartate saṃsāraḥ | ayameka eva paramārthataḥ pṛ0 8) satyaṃ, asya vikārāṇāṃ ca vikāratvādvedāntajñānena śarīravyatiriktamātmasvarūpaṃ bhāsate tatparabrahmaiveti vedanīyo mokṣa iti ca pratipādayanti māyāvādinastu pūrvoktaparabrahmaiva paramārthadṛśyamāno'nyo khilaḥ śaṭhaḥ satyāṃ śuktikāyāṃ rajatavajjagadupādānaṃ māyeyaṃ brahmavatsatyā ca na bhavati | śaśaviṣāṇavadasatyā ca na bhavati | māyāvilakṣaṇaṃ brahmasvarūpaṃ vedāntajñānena svayamiti vedanaṃ mokṣa iti pratipādayanti | śabdabrahmavādinastu-kāraṇaṃ brahmaparamaṃ prameyadaśāyāṃ śabdātmakaṃ bhavati | asya vikāro jaḍājaḍātmakaṃ samastavastu vināśyavināśi vastutaḥ śabdātmaiva tadeva svarūpaṃ bhavatīti vedanaṃ mokṣa iti ca pratipādayanti | krīḍābrahmavādinastu- pūrvoktabrahmaivāhaṃ ahaṃ ekākī bhavāmi ahaṃ mayaivotpannairuccāvacairvikāravastubhiḥ saha bahudhā krīḍāmītyabhisaṃdhinā bahudhā bhavati bahu tadvastu nityaṃ tatsatyaṃ vastu svayamityupalabdhimokṣa iti ca pratipādayanti eteṣāṃ matānāṃ praṇetā vyāsaḥ | mīmāṃsāvaiśeṣikanyāyasāṃkhyapātaṃjalavedāntā iti ṣaṭ śāstrāṇi vaidikāni eteṣu vedānta eka eva advaitaśāstramitarāṇi paṃca bhedaśāstrāṇi etatṣaṭkaṃ vinā vedabāhyāni nāstikaśāstrāṇi | tāni śāstrāṇi kānīti cet bauddhamārhataṃ lokāyatikaṃ ceti trīṇi eteṣu lokāyatikaśāstreṇa tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ-pratyakṣapṛthivyaptejovāyava evaṃ satyāḥ eteṣāṃ samudāyaḥ śarīramevātmā bhavati etadātmajñānaṃ dehavṛddhau vṛddhaṃ syāt kṣīṇe kṣīṇaṃ syāditi īśvara iti na kaściddṛṣṭaḥ, sukhaduḥkha eva svarganarakau śarīre naṣṭe kartavyaṃ kimapyadṛṣṭaṃ nāsti ata eva śarīraṃ vinā ātmeti kaścit na dṛṣṭa iti | lokāyatikaśāstrapraṇetā bṛhaspatiḥ | bauddhaśāstreṇa tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ- pṛthivītattvamārabhya buddhitattvāntatrayoviṃśatitattvāni santi eteṣu buddhitattvaṃ pradhānaṃ | paṃcabhautikaśarīre buddhitattvamevātmā bhavati | tadevapradhānaṃ | etadbuddhitattvamārabhyārvāgvavasturāśirakhilaḥ kṣaṇikaḥ anyathā sthira ātmā ca īśvaraścetyetadubhayaṃ nāsti | etacchāstropadeṣṭā sugata evopāsyaḥ | mokṣastu jalapravāhavadanityānubhūyamānājñānasaṃtatiḥ | sukhaduḥkhasparśaṃ vinā śuddhacitsaṃtatireva syāditi kecit kramātkramātpravartamāno dīpaḥ kṣīṇayostailavartyoryathā pṛ0 9) naśyati tadvadajñānasaṃtatināśa eva mokṣa iti kecit | ete sautrāṃtikā vaibhāṣikā yogācārikā mādhyamikā iti caturvidhā bhavanti eteṣu kecitpratyakṣo'khilo vasturāśirasatyo jñānasaṃtatireva satyeti ca | kecidayamakhilo vasturāśirasti api tu kṣaṇika iti ca pratipādayanti | ārhataistu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ- ārhataśāstrapraṇetā arhannevānādisiddho jīva iti ko'pi padārtho'nādimohādidoṣasahito vartata iti cānyānīṃdriyāṇyapi santīti ca etatsarvametannāmabhiḥ sahaivāsti kāyo nāsti kāya iti śabdena vaktavyaḥ | etatpadārthānāmahiṃsaivāsti nāsti kāya iti śabdena vaktavyaṃ | arhaduktaśāstrajñānena caitacchāstroktataptaśilāśayanāditapobhiśca jinānāmahiṃsayā cāsya doṣāḥ kṣīyante | evamarhanniva kṣīṇadoṣo bhavati caitāni śāstrāṇi santi na veti pṛchyamāne vedāścatvāraḥ eteṣāmaṃgāni chaṃdaḥkalpaśikṣāvyākaraṇaniruktajyotīṃṣīti ṣaṭ maṃtrarūpeṇa brāhmaṇarūpeṇa vidhirūpeṇa ca brāhmaṇādivarṇadharmāṇāṃ brahmacaryādyāśramadharmāṇāṃ pratipādanaṃ ca upaniṣadbhāgaiḥ prakṛtipuruṣeśvarapratipādanaṃ ca vedānāṃ prameyārthāḥ vedasiddhācārasya pravartakāni | śaucādeśca vyavahārasya ca prāyaścittasya ca niyāmakāni manvādidharmaśāstrāṇyaṣṭādaśa | eteṣāṃ praṇetāro manvādayo maharṣayaḥ| vāsudevapraṇītapāṃcarātraśāstreṇa tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ- sāṃkhyoktacaturviṃśatitattvaguṇatattvoparipaṃcaviṃśatitattvaṃ vāsudeva ityākhyāvanna kimapi paratattvaṃ | etasmātparatattvāt kṛṣṇāniruddhamakaradhvajarauhiṇeyā iti catvāro vyūhāḥ jagatsṛṣṭyarthamutpadyante | etaiścaturbhirjaḍājaḍātmakaṃ vastu samastaṃ vyajyata iti ca vedānteṣu pariṇāmavādibhiruktavadetadakhilaṃ vāsudeva iti ca | vedeṣu puruṣārthā na santi pāṃcarātreṣu puruṣārthāḥ santi | ataḥ pāṃcarātroktakrameṇa dīkṣayitvā vāsudevaṃ samārādhya vāsudevasvarūpe layo mokṣa viditvā dīkṣayā muktā bhavantīti purāṇānāṃ prameyārthaḥ | pāśupataśāstreṇa tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ- ātmāno bahavo vyāpakā nityāḥ kāryakāraṇasaṃyogajātā jñānātparasparaṃ bhinnāśca eteṣāmāṇavamalaṃ nāsti māyāmalena karmapāśena ca baddhāḥ sāṃsārikasukhaduḥkhānyanubhavanti vairāgyotpattau śāstroktakrameṇa dīkṣiteṣvātmasu parameśvarasya jñānaguṇaḥ saṃkrānto bhavati | putreṣu kuṭuṃbadhuraṃ nidhāya sanyasanta iva ātmajñānaṃ saṃkramayya īśvaraḥ svādhikārāduparato bhavati | mahāvratena tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ- pāśupatoktakrameṇaiva āṇavakārmyamāyīyātmakamalamuktānāmātmanāṃ saṃsāradaśāyāmapi jñānaśaktireva na tu kriyāśaktiḥ śāstroktakrameṇa dīkṣitā asthidhāriṇaḥ śāstroktacaryānuṣṭhātāro muktā bhavanti ca | te ca muktāḥ kevalaṃ jñānaśaktimanta eva | jñānakriyāśaktidvayaṃ tu parameśvarasyaikasyaiveti | kāpālena tu pratipādyamāno'rthaḥ- pāśupatamahāvratoktakrameṇātmalakṣaṇaṃ baṃdhalakṣaṇaṃ cāstīti ca śāstroktakrameṇa dīkṣitena dine dine sāmyaikadhvajapatākāvyāptāyāṃ diśi manuṣyakapāle bhikṣāmaṭatā bhoktavyamiti ca | mahāvratānāmiva mokṣa iti ca pāśupatamahāvratakāpālānāṃ śāstrāṇāṃ vaktāro māyātattvavidyātattvavāsinastrayo rudrā adṛṣṭaśāstrabhūtasiddhāntaśāstrasya iha loke viśvāsajanakaparameśvareṇa tatpuruṣāghoravāmadevasadyojātanāmabhiḥ caturbhiradhovaktrairanugṛhīte vijñānakaivalye etadetatsaṃjñaiścaturbhirātmabhiruktāni gāruḍadakṣiṇavāmabhūtānītyadhaḥsrotāṃsi catvāri śāstrāṇi | eteṣāṃ gāruḍataṃtreṇa tatpuruṣaṃ brahmasvarūpavaddhyātvā parameśvaraḥ pūjanīya ityucyate | anena śāstreṇa pratyakṣaṃ sarpacikitsārtha maṃtrauṣadhāni coktāni | dakṣiṇataṃtreṇa tu aghoraṃ brahmasvarūpavaddhyātvā pūjanīyaḥ parameśvara iti ca | yogena parameśvaraḥ pratyakṣīkārya iti coktaṃ śatrujayāya maṃtraprayogāśca | vāmataṃtreṇa tu vāmadevaṃ brahmasvarūpavaddhyātvā pṛ0 11) pūjanīyaḥ parameśvara iti strīvaśyārthaṃ maṃtrataṃtrauṣadhāni coktāni | bhūtataṃtreṇa tu sadyojātaṃ brahmasvarūpavaddhyātvā parameśvaraḥ pūjanīya ityuktaṃ bhūtapretapiśācacikitsārthaṃ maṃtrauṣadhāni ca śaktitattvavāsinā kena cidātmanā śāktataṃtramuktam | bhāskarīyavedāntavādiproktavajjaḍājaḍamakhilaṃ śaktipariṇatirityetattaṃtrasya mataṃ tānyadhaḥsrotāṃsi catvāri ca sākṣācchivapraṇītāni bhavanti | kriyāpādena tu- maṃtroddhārasaṃdhyāvaṃdanapūjājapahomāśca samayaviśeṣanirvāṇasaṃskārāścācāryābhiṣekaśca sādhakābhiṣekaścātmanāṃ bhogamokṣopāyabhūtadīkṣā ca procyante | yogapādena tu- etāni ṣaṭtriṃśattattvāni ca tattveśvarāśca bhuvaneśvarāśca ātmā ca parameśvaraśca śaktiśca jagatkāraṇabhūtamāyāmahāmāyayoḥ pratyakṣībhāvaśca | aihikatattvasiddhyapekṣiṇāmaṇimādisaṃbhavaśca prāṇāyāmapratyāhāradhyānadhāraṇasamādhiprakāraśca mūlādhārādyādhārāṇāmavasthānaṃ ca procyante | caryāpādena tu- prāyaścittaṃ pavitrāropaṇaṃ pratiṣṭhāśca śivaliṃgalakṣaṇaṃ ca umāmaheśvarādivyaktaliṃgalakṣaṇaṃ ca skaṃdanaṃdyādigaṇeśvaralakṣaṇaṃ ca japamālālakṣaṇaṃ ca antyeṣṭiśrāddhāni ca procyante samayasaṃskāreṇa rudrapadaprāptiḥ syāt | viśeṣasaṃskāreṇeśvarapadaprāptiḥ syāt | prakṛtitattvādupari miśrādhvani prathamatattvabhūtarāgatattvaprāptireveśvarapadaprāptiḥ | iyaṃ sāṃkhyapātaṃjalavedāntapāṃcarātroktamokṣādupari nirvāṇadīkṣayā parameśvarasāmyarūpamokṣaṃ prāpayati sā ca sadyonirvāṇāsadyonirvāṇatvena dvividhā sadyonirvāṇadīkṣayā kriyāsamanaṃtarakāla eva śarīraṃ vihāya mokṣaṃ prāpnuvanti | asadyonirvāṇadīkṣā dīkṣākāle bhūtāni bhaviṣyanti ca karmāṇi saṃśodhya tadānīṃ saṃbhujyamānasya śarīrahetubhūtasya vartamānakarmaṇaḥ śuddhīkaraṇādāyuḥkṣaye śarīratyāgena mokṣaṃ prāpayati | sādhakadīkṣā tu- śivabhaktiśivaliṃgārcanayoḥ satorapi paścādvidyeśvarādipadābhilāṣiṇastattatpadaṃ prāpayati tattatpadaprāptāste ca pṛ0 13) yadi madhye viraktāstadānīmeva muktā bhavanti nocenmahāsaṃhārakāle muktā bhavanti | nirbījadīkṣā tu- dīkṣottarakāle anuṣṭheyānāṃ saṃdhyāvaṃdanaśivaliṃgārcanādīnāṃ dīkṣākāla evācāryeṇa saṃśodhyānuṣṭhitatvāt strībālavṛddhavyādhitarājñāṃ vidheyā | sabījadīkṣā tu- samarthānāṃ putrāṇāmācāryairvidheyā | dīkṣayā bhūtabhaviṣyadrūpāṇi dvividhāni karmāṇi ca etatparipākaprāptānyaśeṣaśarīrāṇi ca śarīrabhogāśca naśyanti | śarīrakāraṇabhūtānāṃ karmaṇāṃ śuddhīkaraṇāccharīrāṇi sukhaduḥkhānyanubhavitavyānyeva | itthaṃ trividhakarma vinaśyati | sa tu dīkṣāyā upari maraṇāntamucyamānaśāstrīyaniyamā vartamānaśarīrakāraṇabhūtakarmaṇaḥ sahakārimalaśuddhyai jñānāni yogāśca tapāṃsi ca buddhyādisādhanaiḥ sādhyānītyuktatvādebhirna mokṣaḥ | kiṃtu parameśvaraprasādātmikayā dīkṣayaiva mokṣa itarairnāsti | dīkṣottarakāle ācāryavaikalye buddhipūrvakasya doṣasya prāyaścittena śuddhiḥ syāt | maṃtradravyalopādeśca pavitrāropaṇena śuddhiḥ | abuddhipūrvakasya niyamalopasyānteṣṭyā śuddhiḥ | dīkṣottarakāle'vaśyānuṣṭheyāni karmāṇi yamaniyamasaṃpattiḥ śaivasaṃdhyāvaṃdanaṃ śivaliṃgārcanaṃ śivāgnikāryaṃ guruvacanapālanaṃ yathāśakti māheśvarapūjā ca | ananuṣṭheyāni karmāṇi tu- anyadaivanirmālyabhakṣaṇaṃ śivaniṃdā ca śivabhaktaniṃdā śivaśāstraniṃdā ca śivaśāstraprāptācāraniṃdā ca devadravyopabhogaśca bhūtahiṃsā ca evaṃ dīkṣitasyoktānuṣṭhānavato muktasyātmano lakṣaṇaṃ āṇavakārmyamāyīyabaiṃdavarodhaśaktyākhyapāśapaṃcakādvimuktaśca parameśvaravatsarvajñatā nityatṛptatā'nādisiddhabodhatā svataṃtratā aluptaśaktitā'naṃtaśaktimattāca evaṃ vidhānāmapyātmanāṃ parameśvaravatsṛṣṭyādikartṛtvaṃ nāsti viṣayānaṃdasadbhāvaśca rāgadveṣādīnāṃ vidyamānatā ca sṛṣṭyāderakartṛtāyāḥ kāraṇaṃ paṃcavidhakṛtyena tu parameśvara eva parānugrahaṃ karoti | iti sarvamatotkṛṣṭā śaivasiddhāntadīpikā | sarvārthaśaṃbhudevena kalpitā śaivasaṃmatā ||
